Things are moving forward at Dart Sails and Covers with Dominic Hanley and Sean Semmens joining the established team and we are pleased to launch a new quarterly newsletter for our highly valued customers. We now have an in-house team of experts in every field from racing and cruising sails to all things covers.

With Simon Unwin and new team members Sean Semmens and Dominic Hanley - at Dart Sails and Covers we can probably boast more years sailmaking experience between our staff than any other SW based  and many National lofts too, this provides an insight to pretty well any customers requirements.  Whatever the boat you sail, whether you potter around the bay on day sails, or cruise round the world, whether you race round the cans with your mates on an evening or want to win your class championship – we have seen it before and can talk you through the pros and cons of every material and every sail type. Our cover makers are the best in the area and whatever your needs – we ensure we can guide you through the pitfalls right through from design, materials and hardware. In short we do not have a brand to sell we pride our reputation on offering you the product that best suits your needs. So don’t be talked into buying this brand or that – contact the SW experts and we can make sure you buy the product you need not the one someone want to sell!

Sadly the summer is all but over and it is time to think about putting the boat to bed. Don’t leave the sails, covers and upholstery on board in a damp salty environment. Dart Sails offer a full winter maintenance service including a full laundry service for sails, covers and cushions and reproofing for ageing covers; we naturally carry out repairs and any alterations.  Dart Sails are very confident that we offer the most competitive rates in the SW for washing and repairs so as soon as your season is finished do not wait give Dart Sails and Covers a call.

The Southampton International Boat Show is now upon us, after many years of representing our previous employers loft at SBS, it will feel strange not exhibiting this year. We hope to be there next year in our own right. But do not fear – if you are planning a trip to SBS and would like to meet up with Sean he is around at the show next week and would be pleased to meet up over a coffee to discuss any requirements you may have or to answer any questions on anything sails or covers related. Please call Sean on 07717 500 726 to arrange an appointment.

At Dart Sails we have invested heavily in ensuring we have all the tools required to supply a fast and efficient service and quality product. We have invested in two new vans to offer a collection and delivery in the local areas, we have invested in sail design software, an newer and updated version of what Sean used at Westaway thus ensuring efficient and fast sail shapes, we have made new benches to maximise capacity in our Dartmouth loft and just ordered a new long arm heavy duty sewing machine to ensure we can work on sails of any size.

Dart Sails are not all about the racing, in fact we very much specialise in quality sails for cruising boats but off course we are proud when our racing customers do well using some or a full inventory Dart Sails. So in no particular order well done to our own Dom Hanley for winning Tamar River regatta using a full inventory, Steve Linley Shaw in his Sonata ‘Apiano’ for winning his class in Brixham Regatta, Phil Meek in ‘Hope’  for winning the last race and to Caroline Aisher in Lennie for counting all 1st places in class in Torquay regatta, to Peter Boote and Kit Noble in their YW Diamond for winning every race in their class and to our very own Simon Unwin for counting all first places in his class at Dartmouth Regatta. There were plenty other customers with good results or massive improvements since they invested in Dart Sails Well done to you all.
