Conference of States Parties
to the CRPD 2016

Next week the ninth Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be held at the UN in New York: an annual high-level meeting to discuss progress made and challenges faced in the implementation of the Convention.

Nothing about us, without us
The disability community and governments built this convention together, and for ten years we've fought to expand our participation in realizing our principle of 'nothing about us without us'. IDA is committed to this principle and we're working to support an active and involved civil society throughout the Conference.

This year’s Civil Society CRPD Forum will explore how persons with disabilities and their representative organisations can and should be involved in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Comprising two panels, the Forum will provide an introduction to the High-level Political Forum and the participation of persons with disabilities as stakeholders. It will also address practical steps towards implementation of the SDGs and engagement of persons with disabilities at the global, regional and national levels. DPOs, government delegations, Member State experts and representatives from across civil society are all encouraged to participate.
