12th Session of the Conference of
States Parties to the CRPD

The 12th session of the Conference of States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will take place from Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 June 2019 at UN Headquarters in New York.

On Monday 10 June, a Civil Society CRPD Forum will be held to complement the Conference.

Highlights for this Year: 

 

  • The Civil Society Forum on Mon 10 June will address what is the current state of play; capacity building; and protection of the rights of children with disabilities.
  • Civil Society representatives speaking in all official sessions of the CoSP and co-moderating all three round-tables from Tues 11 to Thurs 13th June. 
  • The Chair of the International Disability Alliance will speak at the opening of the CoSP, as a representative of the Civil Society Coordination Mechanism, and alongside UN Secretary-General
  • 100 side-events are being organised, covering a broad range of topics
  • IDA and its members will be co-sponsoring and/or speaking at over 20 side-events.
  • Don't miss the IDA side-event where we will be celebrating our 20th Birthday! Tues 11 June, 3.00-4.15pm in Conf Room 11.

The Themes and Sub-Themes


The overarching theme of the Conference is "Ensuring the inclusion of persons with disabilities in a changing world through the implementation of the CRPD". 

Three round tables will address the following themes:

  • Technology, digitalization and ICTs for the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities
  • Social inclusion and the right of the highest attainable standard of health 
  • Inclusion of persons with disabilities in society through participation in cultural life, recreation, leisure and sports

Do NOT miss the Civil Society CRPD Forum!

The Civil Society Coordination Mechanism, facilitated by the International Disability Alliance will host a Civil Society Forum, as an addition to the 12th Session of the CoSP to the CRPD, to leverage the opportunity to amplify the voice and facilitate the adequate and active participation of persons with disabilities.

The Forum will take place Monday, 10 June 2019, one day prior to the start of the 12th Session of the CoSP. The Civil Society Forum will have the participation of the most marginalized groups. Along with this, priority will be given to featuring partnerships between different stakeholders.

The registration hours for the desk in the UN Pass and ID office will be the following:

  • Sunday 9 June 2019: 1 pm - 4 pm
  • Monday 10 June 2019: 8 am -12.30 pm
  • Tuesday 11 June 2019: 7:30 am - 12:30 pm / 2 - 4 pm
  • Wednesday 12 June 2019: 9 am - 12.30 pm / 2 - 4 pm
  • Thursday 13 June 2019: 9 am - 11.30 am

The registration will take place in the United Nations Pass and ID office located at 320 East 45th Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenue).
