Dear Parents and Friends

As this will be the final newsletter for the year I would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy and Holy Christmas and wonderful 2019.

The Year 6 Production is in full swing. I have had a chance to see the performance and it is very entertaining and I encourage everyone to get along to the show. Click here for the times.  There are 2 x night performances at 7pm tonight & Thursday.

This week it was pleasure to announce the Year 5 children who have been elected to the Student Council for 2019. They were elected by their peers and teachers and  I told them in my experience, this is not a popularity contest but an election where people looked deeply into what people believe in and stand for.

As a result of the ballot we have the following leaders for 2019:

School Captains: Jacinta Churcher and Hugo Morison

Vice Captains: Poppy Millgate-Kimball and Ned Welch

Student Council: Eloise Allwood, Mietta Batrouney, Thomas Goonan, Mary Quinn, James Thomas &  Sadie Wiseman.

Congratulations to these students, but also to those students who had the courage to put themselves forward.

As I reflect back on my first year at St Patrick’s as Principal I am very proud of what we have been able to achieve as a community together.

Working with Father Joel has been one of the great highlights and I thank him for the leadership, companionship and friendship he has provided to me. Our School/Parish Mass each term on Saturday Night have been special as we celebrate with our families.

Working with Leah and the School Council. Some of the larger items that we have used for or have committed funds to are for the development of an adventure/sensory play area in the SE corner of the school, provision of a double sided electronic sign next to the pick up area in Kiewa Street, providing the funding for the Resilience Project for the whole school, in 2019 professional development for the staff on developing Growth Mind in students. Also the purchase of furniture for the new Learning Spaces.

Last Sunday was the Second Sunday of Advent.

Advent is about joyful waiting. It is a time to reflect a sense of anticipation and in particular, the love, hope, joy and peace that are key to the season and foundation to our faith.

During the season of Advent we remember the call of Jesus to His followers to make our world a peaceful and loving place and make a special effort to do this and to be signs that God is with us. This is what the word ‘Emmanuel’ means—God is with us.

Advent is a kind of wake-up call for us to be ready to welcome the Lord in our midst. ‘Be awake’ is the motto for Advent.

The Gospel according to Luke (3:1-6)

John went preaching, “Turn away from your sins, be baptised and God will forgive your sins.” For it is written in the book of Isaiah; ‘Someone is shouting in the desert: Get the road ready for the Lord; make a straight path for him! Every hill and mountain made low. And all will see God’s salvation!’

Family Prayer

Lord Jesus, you came to us in a humble stable.

Help us to prepare a place in our hearts for you.

Year 6 students and their families will celebrate together at the Year 6 Graduation Mass on Monday, 17th December at 6.00pm in St Patrick’s Church. This is a significant celebration in the lives of these young people as they remember their time at St Patrick’s and look forward with hope to their years ahead in High School.

We invite all family members to join us for our School Mass on Wednesday, 19th December at 9.30am where will thank God for all the blessings we have received throughout the school year.

The Latest Together Magazine is available now.

As supplies are running down can you please put a second preference when ordering. Thank you to everyone who has helped in so many ways during 2018. It is greatly appreciated. If you are able to assist anytime next year please let me know.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy 2019.

PSSA sport is now over and we require all children to return their sports uniform tops ASAP.  It would be appreciated if they could be washed.
Children finish school next Wednesday,
19th December at 3.00pm.
Grades 1 - 6 return to school on
Thursday 31st January 2019.
Kinders begin on Thursday 7th February 2019.
School Library is now closed.

Please check at home for any books you may have and return to school.

Thank You.
Thank you to all the families who have donated to the school Building Fund Account.  With your help, this year we have been able to:
Put new carpet, blinds & painting in year 1 new learning space;
Put bi-fold doors & painting in Kinder new learning space;
Add safety perspex to the atrium outside the Kinder rooms.
We would not have been able to achieve this without your help which is greatly appreciated. Tax receipts have gone home with your eldest child this week up to the end of November.

RE:  UPGRADE TO SCHOOL STREAM APP
Dear Parents,
We are looking forward to the new School Stream update being released on the Apple and Google Play Store.
Please check that you update the app when it’s released. You can even set your phone’s app updates to automatic. Here are the instructions for the Apple App Store ( and the Google Play Store (
To get the most out of the app features we do recommend creating an account so you can easily manage the content the school sends through.
To create an account, go to the side menu via the top-left corner and click on "Log-in". This is a quick and easy process that will require your first and last name, and a mobile number, email, or Facebook account authorisation.
Once you have created your account, you will be able to access all of the new app features.
