Dear Parents,

We extend a very warm welcome to you all for the 2019 school year. This year we welcome several new staff members: Ryan Kittelty 6K, Jess Bice 6B, Rhys Dempsey 1D, Genn Hamam 1HH, Laura House 1H and Rebecca Art - Targeting Maths Teacher. I’m sure you will make them feel most welcome and please don’t hesitate in introducing yourselves. We would also like to welcome our new families who have joined the school community and hope your time with us is enjoyable and rewarding.

Already we have commenced the business of school life. Our Staff Development day last Tuesday was facilitated by James Anderson from the Agile Learner, with a  focus on a Growth Mindset. James provided us with much information which will allow us to create a teaching framework that develops robust, enduring growth mindsets in our students. The work he shared will be ongoing and consistently revisited by our staff throughout the year.

Last Wednesday saw all our students participating in our Maths Assessment Interviews (MAIs). The day ran smoothly and we thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that your child/children were able to attend. We will now analyse our data and assess the growth our students have made in Mathematics since last year. We would appreciate any feedback. The students from Year 1-6 are settling well into the routines of a new school year.

Yesterday we held our Primary Swimming Carnival and whilst the weather was somewhat cooler and wetter than usual, we were able to complete all events. A big thanks to those of you who volunteered your time to assist, and the children are to be commended on their positive cooperation and participation. Thank you too, to all of our staff for their organisation. A lot of time and planning goes into the organisation of such an event. Thank you also to Roy Thompson for our great photographs. You can view these on the galleries page of our website.

The Kindergarten teachers have been busy conducting the Best Start interviews and we are looking forward to welcoming them to our school community tomorrow.

The Annual General Meeting of our School Council will be held on Wednesday, March 6th at 6pm in the staff room (above school Office). All parents are invited to attend and nomination forms for those who wish to be a member of the school council are available from the office. These are due back by Wednesday, 20th February 3.00pm.

It was with sadness that we announced the passing of Sister Patricia Osborne on Friday 25th January. Sister Pat had a long association with educating the Catholic youth of Albury and holds a special part in our hearts. She served as Assistant Principal here at St Patrick’s for a number of years and also held various positions at St Joseph’s Ladies College. We will be holding a Memorial Service this Friday 8th February at 12.30pm in the Mercy Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Just a reminder that we are conducting Parent Teacher Meet and Greet interviews next week. Please ensure that you book a time on SOBS. Monday 11th February Years 1, 2 & 3 and Tuesday 12th February Years 4, 5 & 6.

Welcome back and a warm welcome to all our new families! We look forward to a wonderful year together as the students and teachers continue the Faith story of our great school, St. Patrick’s. The charisms of our founding Religious Orders, the Sisters of Mercy and the Christian Brothers, are an important part of the tapestry of our school and we are all bearers of the rich story of Catholic Education in Albury that began so long ago.

We carry on the grand traditions of our school at our Opening School Mass on Tuesday, 19th February. This Mass will begin at 11.45am in St Patrick’s Church. We invite all families to join us for this very special Mass. The investiture of our Student Councillors for 2019 will take place during Mass.

Please join us for a family BBQ after Mass. Lunch is free and expertly cooked by the teachers of St Pat’s!

Dear Parents,

We have conducted a review of the student activity levy that we introduced last year and also discussed it informally with parents. The vast majority of parents felt that it was a much better system for them.

From the school's perspective, we need to make some changes. This year we will be reducing the levy to:

Year 3 - 6:  $100 per student for the year.

Kinder to Y 2: $70 per student for the year.

Please note, if the school arranges transportation to a venue, then regardless if the child uses the transport, it will be charged to their account.
Any balance left a the end of year will be applied to school fees.

Applications for bus passes are now online. See above information sheet or click here to apply.
Remember to select your local bus company that provides travel to your area.
