Dear Parents,

A warm welcome back to all our St Patrick’s families for the 2020 school year! I hope that the Christmas/New Year period allowed you to experience some rest and relaxation, and that your children  are ready for a year full of exciting and valuable learning opportunities. We are very excited to have several new families starting with us this year and we look forward to establishing relationships with you, as together we support your children in their journey at St Patrick’s. To our existing families, we look forward to continuing working in partnership with you. Our Kindergarten students have made a very smooth transition into our community over the last two days and we’re sure that they are enjoying a much needed rest today. We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Corey Miller, Morgan Gallagher and Elecia Turner who are new to our teaching staff, and we welcome back Kylie James and Cindy Whitfield.

All information in relation to the school is now sent to parents via Compass system and App. This is our school system and every parent has a login and password they can access. Emails, class news, invites, student reports, parent/teacher interviews and also absentee notes are recorded and sent via this system. Please contact the office if you haven't received your email and instructions on downloading and accessing this very important tool for communication.

Tomorrow the Year 3-6 students will participate in our annual Swimming Carnival at the Albury Swim Centre. Buses will transport the students to the pool at 9am and they will return to school by 2.45pm. Thank you to those of you who have volunteered your time to help at this event. Click here for an information note.

Our Opening School and Student Investiture Mass is being held on Friday, 14th February at 11.45am in St. Patrick's Church. This is  special occasion for our new Year 6 Student Council and we invite everyone to join our school community to celebrate our new school year. Following this we will have the official blessing of the Sensory garden and a family BBQ.

The sensory Garden has been completed and the children are enjoying the fun it provides. This will be officially opened and blessed on Friday 14th February. Also during the holidays there was some work completed around the school. A wall was taken out in the Kindergarten room providing some extra learning space. This will be enjoyed by our new Kinder cohort. Thank you to Daniel Hibberson and his helpers who removed some rubbish in the Zone 3 area and the tyres that were in the Zone 4 playground. In the coming weeks work will commence in repairing our outdoor tables and hopefully some of our cubbies will arrive.

A reminder that a school fee schedule will be sent home in the coming days. We would like to bring to your attention some changes occurring across the Diocese regarding fees. Firstly, you will see by your statement that this year the full 2020 calendar years’ school fees have been invoiced at the beginning of Term 1.

Welcome back and a warm welcome to all our new families! We look forward to a wonderful year together as the students and teachers continue the Faith story of our great school, St Patrick’s. The charisms of our founding Religious Orders, the Sisters of Mercy and the Christian Brothers, are an important part of the tapestry of our school and we are all bearers of the rich story of Catholic Education in Albury that began so long ago.

We carry on the grand traditions of our school at our Opening School Mass on Friday, 14th February. This Mass will begin at 11.45am in St Patrick’s Church. We invite all families to join us for this very special Mass. The investiture of our Student Councillors for 2020 will take place during Mass.

Please join us for a family BBQ after Mass. Lunch is free and expertly cooked by the teachers of St Pat’s!

Our new Sensory Garden will be officially opened during our family BBQ lunch gathering and Fr Joel will bless our beautiful new play area.

Scholastic Bookclub
The best gift any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success in school. Once again our school is participating in Scholastic Book Club this year. Twice a term, during the school year, we will send home the Book Club catalogue with a different selection of books offered for all ages. You’ll find award-winning books and bestsellers, as well as old and new favourites. We recommend them because the books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and are inexpensive (some books cost as little as $2).

It is easy to order. The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school and the books will be delivered to class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/loop or by using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Alternatively you can complete the order section of the brochure and return the order/money to school in an envelope by the due date.

Owning your own books is something special! We hope that you will encourage your child to order books this year. Each order helps earn free books and teaching materials for our classrooms, however, there is never any obligation to order.

Issue #1 for 2020 will be going home next week and the closing date for orders is Week 4, Thursday, Thursday 20th February.

Our Clothing Pool is open each THURSDAY from 2.15 to 3.15 and is run by volunteer parents.
We have a range of pre-loved formal and sport uniform and also New Hats, School Bags, Library Bags and Beanies.
