Faith
A Secret and Hidden Wisdom
The Foolishness and Power of the Cross
Our Most Precious Possession
Faith

I believe faith partners with wisdom. Weak decisions minimises our faith. Wise decisions increase our faith. Faith that can revolutionise our Christian lives!

Hebrews 11 is the great hall of faith and fame - heroes of the faith. The emphasis  is 'faith', the just shall live by 'faith'. It is by grace we are saved through faith. 'I am crucified with Christ. It is not I that live, but the life that I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me
and gave Himself for me'. Galatians 2:20

From start to finish salvation is by grace through faith. The disciples came to Jesus and said 'Increase our faith!'. We need the right climate for faith to grow, and the climate that faith grows in is the presence of God. So we need not to focus on faith, but to focus on God. You don't plant seeds or bulbs, and then every day dig them back up, saying: 'Nothing is happening here'. If you dig up your faith every day and analyse your faith, it will never grow because your focus is on the seed rather than God who gives the power and the increase. Focus on God if you want your faith to increase.

If your faith is in how well you are doing, a performance-based relationship with God - it's not by grace at all. It's not faith in prayer, it's not faith in holiness, it's not faith in the Bible alone - but it is faith in God. Don't measure your faith, measure your God, and your faith will look after itself.

How big is your God? How real is your God to you every day? Have you limited your God?  Our God is so big, His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts - as high as the heavens are above the earth, so much gr eater are His ways and His thoughts above us. God is not restricted to our ways!

'Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him'. You've got to believe in Him if you're going to come to Him, but when it says, 'Believe that He is', it has a sense of that we've got to believe that He is active. We need to believe that He is at work even when it appears He isn't doing anything. You come to Him because you believe that He is active. Our faith is either superficial or supernatural.

God is actually doing in our midst which He promised. Stop looking for the devil, our God is bigger, His grace is larger, and His light is brighter, and it shines brighter in the darkness.

Ephesians 1:17. Paul is praying for these believers: 'That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places' –

There are eyes in our heart that need to be opened. If you want to have faith that makes a difference you're going to have to start seeing the unseen.
2 Corinthians 4:18, 'So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever'. He is the same as He always has been and always will be'

Psalm 68:28, 'Summon Your power, O God; show us Your strength, our God, as You have done before'.  The psalmist believed it, or he wouldn't have prayed for it. The patriarchs and prophets believed in the power of God - read Hebrews 11. Do we have such faith?

Malachi 3:6 'I am the LORD, I do not change'.
Jeremiah 32:27 'I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?'.
Hebrews 13:8 'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever'.

God's power hasn't changed! Jesus can still say: 'All power is given unto Me in heaven and on earth, go therefore and make disciples of all peoples'

The natural man does not perceive the things of God, they are foolishness to him. Ask God to open the eyes of your heart, just like the words of the song: 'I want to see You, I want to see You high and lifted up'.

Seek God for the City 2020

COMING SOON!  We are excited to once again be taking part in "Seek God for the City" The forty days to Palm Sunday makes an ideal time to venture into a season of sustained, hope-filled prayer, for our city and for the nations [February 26 – April 5, 2020]

It’s hard to pray beyond our own problems, especially in difficult times. But since God does great things in the midst of troubled times, now is actually the best time to pray beyond ourselves with expansive prayers of solid hope. We will either find God-given courage to pray great things, or we will find that our hope, along with our love, will grow cold.

We will Seek God in two simple ways: First we will seek God’s face and then we will seek His kingdom. And as we come to God, seeking His face, then He comes to us bringing His kingdom.

We are providing free copies of the booklet to the congregation, however if you want to give a donation of £2 that would be appreciated.

It is also
available as an app for iphone or android that links to many of the key websites for praying for the nations (Operation World and PrayerCast)
