Letter from The Chairman
Just to keep everyone up to date after the Board meeting on 7th July, here are the highlights.  Despite putting my arms under the table and taking a step back, I am your new Chairman.  I run Lower Farm Holidays in Shelve, and am also a director of Shropshire Tourism so have ensured the views from the Shropshire Hills are heard there.
The next Board meeting to which all members are invited to attend will be on 15th September at 10:30 at the Discovery Centre with free drinks and yummy home-made biscuits.

Meet your Board
We still have some stocks of the 2015 Events/Accommodation guide produced jointly with the AONB.  Already 20,000 have been distributed and we thought some may want more copies for their guests before they all disappear - it is your Association's leaflet!

All Board members have agreed to keep a stock on their premises, so why not call round to see them and gather some copies for yourselves? You may want to call ahead if you want to be certain they are in - we all work!  So who are we?

Stocks of the Events/Accommodation brochure are also held at various Information Centres - Ludlow, Craven Arms, The Bog, Bishops Castle, Cleobury Mortimer - if that's more convenient.

Accommodation Brochure 2016
After much discussion at the meeting it was decided that a paper accommodation brochure will not be printed by SHT next year.  Instead a formatted list of accommodation providers will be collated - probably in Word format - which can be printed on demand and sent out to enquirers.  This will make it easy to print on demand in black & white and thus satisfy this small demand- figures provided show 179 were sent out in the first 6 months of this year.

Our focus will be on marketing through the web, and also making this available for download so guests can print their relevant pages.

Shropshire Tourism will still be producing their usual Shropshire and Welsh Borders brochure, initial invites for this will be coming out shortly.
Revised Discovery Map
Most of you will know that we revised and reprinted the discovery map 3 years ago. That stock (of 75,000) has now been depleted and it is regarded as a really useful piece of print for the area.  We are currently looking to repeat the run, as there is no outside assistance we are looking for advertising from attractions etc to fund this.  A small working group led by David Palliser will be working on this - contact David if you would like to be involved.
Fed up with Bots in your Google stats?
If that title doesn't make any sense to you and you'd like it to, then send an email to and if enough are interested I'll run you a course.

For those who use Google Analytics to look at refering traffic on their website Robots who crawl through to your site and then buzz off in a nanosecond (Bounce rate 100%) make your statistics less useful. Marketing Shropshire have a useful Blog post explaining how in the future you can keep these varmints out of your stats.
