Take a moment now spring is in the air

Dear Supporter

It's March, the days are getting longer, the daffodils are out - spring must be on it's way!  For us at Noah's Ark, March means we're one year into our partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club - and what a great year it's been. Read how we've been marking the anniversary and visit our news pages for a reminder of some of the highlights so far.

March also means Mothers' Day and Lent, and we've got some ideas about marking those events while helping Noah's Ark. And as the weather warms up, you might fancy getting outdoors and training for a run or cycle ride - we've got plenty of options including our spectacular Rainbow Run.

So please, take a moment to find out what's happening in March at Noah's Ark.
Celebrating a year of playing for precious moments

Ten-year-old Alonso walked onto the pitch with Spurs captain Hugo Lloris on Sunday 5 March before seeing his team beat Everton 3-2. Alonso was at the heart of celebrations to mark one year of partnership with the club, and the match at White Hart Lane was dedicated to Noah's Ark - read more on our news pages.

Alonso has been supported by Noah's Ark since he was a baby. His mum Enkelejda said: “This was a dream come true for Alonso. He is such a fan, with so much to say about the game.”

In the lead up to Sunday's match Alonso took part in a press conference at our Barnet charity shop alongside midfielder Moussa Dembele - watch the moment when Alonso had serious words with Moussa about losing to Liverpool!

Make Lent your time for giving

We're a few days into Lent and if you're giving something up we hope it's going well. But whether you're forgoing cake or chocolate, coffee or wine, you can make the gesture even more meaningful by donating the money you'll save to Noah's Ark. Lent is the period in the run up to Easter when Christians and non-Christians alike give up luxuries and think about ways of helping others. Read more on our news page, or make a donation here.

Memories of White Hart Lane

A book celebrating Spurs’ beloved White Hart Lane is raising money for Noah’s Ark. A Love for the Lane, by BBC correspondent Chris Slegg, is a history of the ground before it closes forever and includes stories from players and managers. We currently have copies for sale on our eBay store and in our Barnet charity shop. Read more here. Spurs fans can pick up limited edition partnership pin badges on our eBay store too for £2.49 including postage.

Add a splash of colour

Registration is now open for our annual Rainbow Run - a fabulous 5k course with the chance to be showered in every colour of the rainbow. Get together a team of friends, family or workmates for the ultimate feelgood run. The event is on 25 June - find out more here. For a bigger challenge visit our events pages - we still have places on Ride London-Surrey 100 and the London Vitality 10k.

3 Daves help us from 10,000 ft

Three workmates from Sainsbury's depot in Elstree are gearing up for the flight of their lives. In three months time the trio - all called Dave - will take our Skydive challenge. On the prospect of jumping out of a plane at 10,000 feet Dave Hyatt told us he's looking forward to "flying through the air with the wind blowing out the cobwebs." But what do the others think? Read more and find out about other challenge events here.

Mum's the word

March 26 is Mother's Day, a chance to think about the minor miracles performed by mums everywhere. But while all mums have their struggles, how much harder if your child has a life-threatening or life-limiting condition? One way to help mums supported by Noah's Ark is to offer your time as a volunteer, helping with practical tasks such as gardening or ironing so families can enjoy more precious time together. Find out more.

Our tribute to Irvine Sellar

All of us at Noah’s Ark were greatly saddened at the news of the death of Irvine Sellar on 26 February. Irvine Sellar, who built London’s iconic tower the Shard, had been playing a crucial role in our plans for a new hospice building by leading calls for the construction industry to come on board. Thanks to support from him and other big players, the project has already received £1m in pro bono support. Read more here.
