We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful obedience to your Son, we bring into his fellowship those who come to him in faith, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
~ Book of Common Prayer 306
This Sunday we welcome into the household of God Sarah Elizabeth Grigg, who has been worshiping with us for several months. Sarah will be confirmed with others next Sunday. She is a senior at Lander University, majoring in political science, and currently works as an intern with the U.S. Supreme Court. There will be a special reception in honor of Sarah's baptism following the 10:30 service in Emmaus Hall. If you haven't already, be sure to introduce yourself and congratulate Sarah on this blessed day.
Some other events to note:
Our Wednesday service of Holy Eucharist and Healing has been canceled for June 26. The next service will be on July 3.
John and Kim Russell are hosting a summer supper at their home on Saturday, June 29th from 5:30 to 9 pm. All adults at Resurrection are invited. They will serve Jambalaya and ask that you bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert to share. BYOB please too. Their address is 117 Yorke Drive in Druid Hills. RSVP kindly to firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, June 26th, so we can have an accurate head count for food preparation.
Confirmation will take place on June 30 with Bishop Waldo’s visit. We will combine our worship services that morning at 10:30 AM. Bishop Waldo also will hold an adult forum at 9:30 AM in Emmaus Hall.
On Sunday, July 7, we’ll enjoy a Patriotic Breakfast at 9:30 AM in Emmaus Hall. Fr. Bolle will be away visiting his new grandson, and the Reverend Donald S. McPhail will be preaching and celebrating for us.
Camp Kanuga Day Camp is coming soon - July 15-19! Now is the time to register, if you haven’t already. Kanuga counselors offer an on-site camp experience complete with song and dance, crafts, games, and recreation. Resurrection is fortunate to provide 24 fully scholarships for this camp, and there are several spots still available. Share the news about this wonderful camp experience with your friends, family and neighbors. Be sure to share the church’s Facebook announcement on your own timeline so word can be spread throughout Greenwood.
It is not too early to seek sponsors for our Thanksgiving Day Race to be Thankful. We could use an enthusiastic, charismatic and possibly well-connected person to help obtain sponsors from area businesses and companies. If this sounds like you and you are willing to help, please contact Kim Russell at email@example.com or 344-8009. Compensation includes a free t shirt and a great amount of appreciation.
Pastoral Care in Transition: Fr. Bolle will be available for our pastoral needs throughout his time as our interim rector. You may reach him by phone at 864-554-3240 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
