This week, on the first day of class, I read this blessing from “Ordinary Blessings” by Meta Herrick Carlson:

For Walking Through Doors

Before you pass through
stop long enough
to hear your hopes for the other side.

You cannot know for sure just yet,
which paints this portico in adventure.
It’s the unknowable that makes it wild.

As we embark on another school year, much is uncertain. The pandemic rages on around us. We are learning to be together again in new ways. But if the last 18 months have taught us anything, it is that being a part of a community enriches our lives deeply.

Whether you’ve walked through the doors of the LCM student center hundreds of times, or you’ve never set foot here, I hope that you’ll make your way here this semester, and my prayer is that you will find a sense of belonging here - a community that will walk with you through the unknowable and remind you that you are a beloved child of God, just as you are.

Stop by the LCM student center this week and say hello. Or come to our Evening Prayer, Dinner, and Faith Conversation this Thursday. We’re looking forward to sharing the adventure of this year with you.

In Christ,

Pastor Emily
