Summer Is Nearly Here!

But its not here yet as we continue to experience some beautiful warm days, but occasional cold nights and typical spring winds.  Its still not to late to get your summer fitness program and training underway before the Christmas rush and the kids come home from school.  So make the most of these early but beautiful mornings and join us either on Tahunanui beach or the Cathedral steps each day at 6am for some hard but varied sessions with anyone of us.  You won't regret it.
Congratulations to the All Blacks on winning the world cup and becoming the first team to defend the title and win a 3rd time. They are undoubtedly the top team in the world at that moment with only having lost 3 times between world cups and what a great way to send of some off the retiring players plus some sweet retribution for Dan Carter after his past 3 appearances.  Plus, how professional were they all in there public and media appearances and there general professionalism.  Very proud to be a kiwi.

Nelson Events have offered all of you a $10 discount on your entry and/or merchandise purchase, and the first 10 from Boot Camp Nelson to take this offer up will also receive a FREE Run Mahana cap, so email Nige to claim it.   If you want a complimentary training program from Nige to help get you to the start line in even better condition and readiness, email Nige and he'll send you the program.

My goal has always been to do an Ironman. I have tried training on my own but I had no structure and was constantly getting injuries. I wanted to find someone who could help me find some direction to my training and I found Nige Burgess who was a personal trainer and coach and has racing experience, locally and internationally. As a complete beginner to triathlon, Nige has been amazing with his encouragement and enthusiasm. I now have a structured plan in place which involves swim/bike/run sessions to transition practice, strength training, stretching, and nutrition and have learnt about the importance of recovery. Since I have been training with Nige I have had no injuries and have completed my first half Ironman distance plus several sprint and Olympic distance triathlons. I will be doing the full Ironman in Wanaka January 2013 and I have no doubt with Nige as my coach I will once again cross the finish line (Still running...).

EXTRA Wednesday 6am Running (learn to run) session with coach Nige (November only)

During November only, on Wednesday's at 6am at Tahunanui beach/playing fields, Nige will take an additional boot camp session aimed at improving your running fitness or learning to run (better).
For the walkers/hybrids, each week we will run more and walk less, while those already capable of running 5-10km, will be given extra running to do to improve their fitness further.  So don't be scared, come along and learn some tricks from one of Nelsons best event coaches for newbies.

Some recent courses and training groups Nige has organised and run for local events are;

  • 2013 Nelson Mens Activator Series pilot program - First Timers
  • 2012 Run Mahana 10km - First timers
  • 2012 Brook Sanctuary Trail Run - Beginners and First Timers

The session will include;
  • A few running drills and technique tips
  • Some structured walking and running intervals around Tahuna to help improve your running endurance and ability to run more
  • Core strength and endurance exercises
  • Some fun sprints and games to add some spice to the session
A weekly handout to teach you about;
  1. How to progress from walking and improve you're running ability and fitness
  2. Nutrition/hydration around exercise
  3. What to do the week before an event
  4. Foam rolling and stretching tips to help care for the body
ANY Boot Camp member can attend this session whether you are doing Run Mahana or not, and if you are a beginner or an improver, so come along to a new type of boot camp session and add some spice to your training.
Beginner Boot Camp Group Continues For Another Month

This couldn't be more true than for those who have been attending Gaye's beginner boot camp sessions.  So we are carrying this independent group on for another month in November.

This time on Mondays and Fridays at 6am at the church steps with Gaye, and Wednesdays at 6am at the beach with Nige with a particular focus on improving running technique and running fitness.  So join back up by contacting Nige now to reserve your place in this group and drag some friends along to inspire them too.

Starts (continues) again tomorrow, Monday 2nd November.
