We have had a few regulars away this month - we have missed you! However the rest of us have really enjoyed the fantastic fresh but beautiful clear morning and evenings. We have been so lucky this winter with minimal rainfall and plenty of sun.AUGUST SPECIAL:

We all alternate Saturdays, so just turn up and chance it with who you get.Gaye is taking a well deserved holiday in August to support her son Kit who is competing in the World Underwater Hockey Championships, but will be returning to kick our butts later in the month.
How are you measuring up this winter?
Are you struggling to measure if you are making progress or not? Is this affecting your consistency or motivation to attend boot camp sessions regularly or just get out the door for your own exercise?
Have you considered having a body composition analysis done to see where your current physical measurements stack up compared to the average population or others your age and gender? This involves height and weight being compared, some circumferences being taken and a 4-8 site body fat measurement taken. This is then analysed and some SMART goals discussed and set with you, based on your results. Brodie Hewlett from Revolution Sports Science in Nelson can do all this for you. Brodie has a Masters degree in Sports Physiology, is a Sports Science tutor at NMIT, runs their performance fitness testing lab, and is the consultant performance analyst and physiologist for Tasman Makos and Junior All Blacks (recent world cup winners in Italy) can do all this for you.

Results can also be emailed to Nige or any of the trainers, so they can help you with achieving your goals and ensure you're making progress towards them, as we all need a little accountability here and there.
See below for a winter favourite in our household at the moment (so easy and kids love it!)
2 cups broccoli, cut into even sized florets, peel and cut the stalk into smallish pieces
1 tsp fresh dill (optional)
2 cups chicken or vegetable stock
1 clove of garlic, sliced thinly
1 cup milk
Salt and cracked pepper
Start by pouring the stock into a suitable size pot and bring to the boil. Add the broccoli and cook gently until the broccoli it is just tender. Add the garlic and fresh dill and cook for a further 10 minutes so that the broccoli is very tender but not so that it goes very a pale green.
Remove from the heat and blend until smooth, add the milk and adjust the seasoning to suit. Bring to the boil again and reduce immediately. Serve in warm bowls with fresh bread!
Optional naughty - Add 80g good quality blue cheese or freshly grated parmesan, for serving, YUM!
