Time to Spring into Summer!

Spring is definitley here with these strong but inconsistent winds.  Interestingly, with most of them from the south or west, the Tahunanui beach sessions seem to be more sheltered on the beach than at the playground.  No excuses though, makes us tough and thats what boot camps are all about.
October Sessions

Please see our website for session times and locations:
With Labour day upon us (Monday 26th) there will only be one session on Monday to cover all time slots, and this will be at 7:30am at the beach.  So don't miss out, get up (but probably already up after having caught the rugby world cup semi final) and get your day started good with a refreshing holiday session with Gaye.

Below is a guide to who is taking which classes this month:
Nige - Takes all 9am and 6pm classes and Tues and Thurs at 6am.
Laura - Takes Mon, Wed and Fri at 6am regular boot camp sessions
Gaye - Mon, Wed and Fri 6am beginner boot camp sessions
We all alternate Saturdays, so just turn up and chance it with who you get.

A friendly reminder that your monthly payment for October is due this week.  Please ensure you have changed your AP to our new bank account - 02 0704 0039413 00

If you are heading away on holiday, please let Nige know via email in advance so we can adjust your monthly payment to suit and most importantly, so we can help get you motivated on your return.  AKA - accountability.
Have you joined our Facebook page? Nige loads a weekly 'Workout Wednesday' training tip/blog or a challenge for you to try, which may be of interest.

Christmas Holidays?

Nige is wanting some christmas holidays feedback on if and when you want sessions to take place during the holidays.  At this stage we are looking at making Wednesday 23rd December the final day for boot camp sessions for the year.  Then resuming a skeleton class schedule from Tuesday 5th January, with resuming our full normal schedule from Tuesday 10th February.  So please email Nige with what classes you are interested in attending during this time.

All current Boot Camp attendees have been offered a $10 discount on your entry fee and merchandise for the 2015 edition of Nelson's biggest running event and festival (up to 900 people), Run Mahana 5km or 10km.  AND, the first 10 entries through us will receive a FREE Run Mahana cap too, so email Nige when you have entered.  This year it will take place on Sunday 29th November (details here), and if you enter now then email Nige, he'll send you a FREE TRAINING PROGRAM to help guide you to completing this event as a hybrid or a runner or run the event faster.
This is a very social event with a festival like atmosphere at the finish line at Wollaston's Estates (now Mahana Estates) in the Moutere hills, with many food and drink carts, a live band/music, great prizes up for grabs and most finishers staying around to picnic and socialise, so talk your boot camp mates into joining you for a race and after party with you.

Special Running Boot Camp Session

Furthermore, during November only, on Wednesday's at 6am at Tahunanui beach/playing fields, Nige will take an additional boot camp session aimed at improving your running fitness or learning to run (better) with a session including running drills and technique tips, some running (and walking) fitness intervals to help improve your running endurance and speed, and a weekly handout to teach you about nutrition/hydration around exercise, how to progress from walking and improve running, foam rolling and stretching tips and what to do the week before an event.  So challenge yourself and enter now for this very social and scenic event.

ANY Boot Camp member can attend this session whether you are doing Run Mahana or not, and if you are a beginner or an improver, so come along to a new type of boot camp session and add some spice to your training.
Testimonial from Jo who started with us in the beginner boot camp group

"It's a great idea as I had often wondered what boot camp was like and seeing the deal was the extra incentive to "give it a go" and now I am a fan!!
It was great to move to the regular group and push harder. I am 62 years young and found myself exercising beside very young women, so goes to show all ages can do bootcamp."

Want to know how you measure up?  And then set some summer goals?
Don't forget that Brodie Hewlett from Revolution Sports Science in Nelson can do your body composition for you at special discounted rate of $45 (usually $60) for regular Boot Camp Nelson attendees. Brodie has a Masters degree in Sports Physiology, is a Sports Science tutor at NMIT, runs their performance fitness testing lab, and is the consultant performance analyst and physiologist for Tasman Makos and Junior All Blacks (recent world cup winners in Italy).
Laura and myself have both had ours done, how about you?
