Legislation introduced to help close gender pay gap

If passed, the bill will publish the gender pay gaps of companies with 100 or more workers, starting in 2024.

The shift towards greater transparency may push employers to work harder to close their gender pay gap.

Australia's gender pay gap is at a record low

The pay gap has shrunk from 14.1% in August 2022 to 13.3% this February, according to calculations by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. However, this figure only considers the base salary of full-time employees – the gender pay gap for all workers likely remains high.

With the Cygnet Awards well underway, we’re getting ready for the next level of SAGE accreditation: the Athena Swan Silver Awards.

The draft Silver Award form was sent to all SAGE subscriber institutions in December. We want to make sure that our proposed approach works for the sector, so please send us your feedback on the award requirements and guidelines.
