Forward to a Friend Forward to a Friend

Namaste Colleague

This ancient and touchless greeting has been offered as an alternative to conventional Western forms of salutation, appropriate to the current corona virus pandemic. For me, it offers a much deeper form of acknowledgement, beyond the social level and grounded in the spiritual.

Reflecting on this, it stirs within me empathy for the other's vulnerability, not only to illness but also the suffering caused by changing and unpredictable events. Herein lies the potential for authentic connection, support and learning from the experience.

This last weekend I was deeply touched by a friend live-streaming her daughter's singing performance broadcast to the neighbourhood. As you may guess, I am feeling particularly humbled by the magnitude of the events related to COVID-19, but more so how people's humanity is emerging strongly in this time of need.

If you feel this too, feel free to join our coaching community in the weekly community of practice events I am hosting. Details lower down.

Community of Practice | Supervision

Weekly at 10h00 (South Africa) | 08h00 (UTC), I will be hosting a free one and a half hour group meeting for coaches. You're welcome to have a conversation with me and other coaches on anything from how to work online, digital tools and resources, running a coaching business, case supervision and coach mentoring.

Please note that the Zoom Meeting IDs sent in previous mailers will no longer work. Zoom has recently tightened up on its security options and in line with that I have changed joining options from Zoom Meeting ID to per-event registration.

COVID-19: Staying Safe

To bring you accurate news, I source my information from the NICD (South Africa) or the WHO (international)

The current coronavirus pandemic should be taken very seriously. Click on the images for the relevant online resource for information.

Digital Resource- Trello

Trello lets you keep track of whatever you can think of. Whether you want to manage the progress of a project, your practice, a committee, designing a website, you name it, you can create it. I use Trello to manage the various teams I work in, across multiple organisations and across multiple committees within an organisation.

Trello let's you link to documents and media you have saved on cloud storage, create deadlines, checklists, manage user access etc. I find it intuitive and easy to understand at a glance.

And for most uses, its FREE!

Lockdown Recipe

I've been asked to share the recipe for Malva pudding! This is a favourite and I urge you to try it!

The origins of Malva pudding, like many South African food favourites, is shrouded in mystery. The taste sensations though are clear for everyone to enjoy! What stands out about this dessert is two of its ingredients, vinegar and apricot jam. Combined they attribute the dish with a somewhat sweet and sour taste, but perfectly suited to an after dinner treat. Try it with ice cream or custard for best results!

If you have your own lockdown recipes, I'd love to get them from you and share them here with our coaching community! Contact me here

Lockdown Audiobook

As part of a leadership development partnership project I am involved in, I had the privilege of partaking in Flawless Consulting workshops. Being on to make most efficient use of my time, I listened to the audiobook during travel.

Although this may not be to everyone's taste, I certainly found value in the thinking behind much of its content. There are useful suggestions for engaging with clients whether individual or organisational, and plenty of process resources which sum up the chapters.
