There’s enough risk with CV-19 as it is, but the unknowns could really kill us: Opening schools, super-spreaders, herd immunity, and long term damage among recovered patients. There are things we know for sure: for example, masks help. And things we don’t know: for example, how to get people to wear masks. But in between the known improvements in treatments and the known unknowns of when we’ll get effective vaccines and cures, lie several issues which could really harm us if we handle them the wrong way. An application for a new Hyatt hotel has been under review with the City since 2016.
This private development proposal has not been approved, nor has the robust project and environmental review process that precedes consideration of approval been completed. This proposal involves only private property on land that is zoned Planned Development.

– To be eligible to run, candidates must be registered voters within the district with an open seat
– In 2018, the City of HMB switched from at large elections to district elections, which begin with the November 3, 2020 Election

VIDEO. Due to questions about the way PG&E is cutting the trees down (leaving roots in place?), the City of Half Moon Bay Planning decided to continue this agenda item until the next meeting on August 11th, 2020 meeting.
The trees are planted on top of a PGE gas pipe. There is a plan for 3 to 1 tree replacement.

LINKS. The original SMRCD boundaries encompassed agricultural lands in northern San Mateo County. Coastal areas (less publicly owned lands and developed areas) were added to district boundaries in two subsequent annexations in 1942 and 1946.
In 1954 several subdivisions from the District. Current District boundaries therefore have several “excluded pockets” but generally include western San Mateo County from the San Francisco-San Mateo County boundary to the Santa Cruz-San Mateo County boundary.
The LAFCo adopted sphere of influence for the District is conterminous with District boundaries.

Montara Water and Sanitary District (MWSD) works every day to deliver water, garbage and sewer services for the residents of Montara and Moss Beach. Over 6,000 residents rely on our services for their homes and businesses.
The District’s operating funds come from:
- Rates (Bills paid by customers): 49-75%
- Property Tax 1% (stable): 11-12%
- Connection and Other Fees* (variable): 10-40%
- Investment Income: 0-3%

I noted with interest a few months back that the County was able to obtain a pledge of about $1.6 million from the developers of the Big Wave project to contribute to certain infrastructure enhancements – if I recall correctly some trails and traffic controls. That led me to wonder how the County knows it is receiving enough monies from any given project?

Nature photographer Bruce Finocchio is a master when it comes to capturing exquisite photos of birds and other wildlife. He totes a pro camera with a long and heavy telephoto lens. At his rural ranch, Bruce has set up several camouflaged bird blinds near a pond on his property. Hidden inside, he watches a parade of birds arrive at the pond.
The Coastal Arts League has at last reopened her doors. During the last four months we have had a steep learning curve, learning how to post our exhibits in an online gallery. Visitors to the gallery will find that we have implemented a social distancing plan.

Now that California has added art galleries to the list of businesses that may re-open, we are delighted to announce that new exhibitions will open on Friday, July 10, 1–5pm.
During the opening and for all gallery visits thereafter, safety protocols for the health and well-being of visitors, volunteers, and staff will include physical distancing and limiting the number of people in the galleries; a short wait outside may therefore be required.
