Thank you, Coastsiders!
Firefighters, Medics, Sheriffs, and Harbor Patrol are the usual suspects when you think of first responders and of course we continue to serve, but COVID-19 has evoked a much broader citizen response as so many of you have taken individual actions big and small to help our community stay safe, healthy, and resilient. Coastside generosity, ingenuity, kindness, and compassion are evident everywhere – giving us hope, supporting public health, and literally putting food on local tables. We thank you!

LETTER. Dear Half Moon Bay Community (Para ver esta carta en español, oprime aquí),
4/21/2020
I hope everyone is doing well. I’m becoming somewhat more acclimated to this new normal of ours – I hope you’re also getting more comfortable with the changes in how we live our lives. It’s not easy to change life-long habits, but let’s remember that by staying home, we’re protecting health care workers and others working on the front lines. Our efforts in staying home and practicing social distancing remain critically important– we all play a part. If anyone wants to chat, please reach out to me – I’m happy to chat via email or give you a phone call. I want you to know that I’m here for you.

VIRTUAL WORKSHOP for engaged, newlywed and seriously dating couples.
I know, these times are tough right now… I am hearing a lot of my couples struggle with being cooped up together, and the relationship issues they had before only get amplified under stress.
It is important for couples to learn the skills we teach, especially during these times. So we have decided to teach our next workshop over a new platform so that couples can still attend. For the first time and possibly the last time, we are going to hold our May 8 & 9th Marriage Prep 101 Workshop virtually via Zoom! This means you can join us from the comfort of your own home, from anywhere in the U.S.!

ARTICLE. Hope everyone is laying low and staying healthy. Warning: this is a long post that addresses many questions and conversations I have had over the past week on topics that are very important to many right now.
We are all experiencing and adapting to unprecedented times right now. My week was made even crazier by being re-taught the meaning of “out of context”. For those who read it, the LA Times article with subsequent twists made by additional media outlets was a major disappointment — and caused some people extra angst which is not needed right now.

Learn to sail! This is a safe and fun way for youth ages 8-16 to learn how to sail in either an Optimist (Opti) or Laser. Both boats are extremely popular recreational dinghies that also feature prominently in competition. Most certainly STEM! (science, technology, engineering, and math).
