GCSD Parks and Recs: Jetty Skate Ramp Covid-19 Update; Figuring It Out

VIDEO and PLAN.   I rarely post from personal perspective, but since I am on the Granada Community Services District Parks and Recs Committee, I will today. I participated in a GCSD meeting, yesterday 5/21/2020, 7:30 pm by Zoom. I, personally love Zoom as you can see every face talking to you. Remote participation is sooo much easier, and just as effective.  Next meeting, June we will get all those interested in the skate ramp to Zoom the GCSD meeting and show them how much you need it open.

Remote Meetings Allow Public Agencies to Reach New Internet Audience ~ Get Involved From Your Armchair!

VIDEO.

Five years ago I had the idea that the internet audience wouldn’t show up to public meetings, ever, but they might participate remotely.

I hate going to meetings. When I discovered you can watch the meeting from home, streaming through Pacific Coast TV, I was happy to sit and watch meetings.  I was even happier to realize I could watch the rerun of the meetings on PCTV’s You Tube Channel.

I now actually love our Coastside public agency meetings. They are technically fascinating between juggling law, finance, pandemics, water and sewer systems …. The amount of work that goes into the background of our lives is literally mind-boggling.  There is also the occasional drama which keeps things interesting from a human perspective.

WSJ The Future of Everything ~ Did You Know Viruses Shaped Our Genome?

PODCAST.

Dead or Alive, Viruses are Everywhere, and Here to Stay

Viruses are ubiquitous, found in every crevice on earth.

Some, like SARS CoV 2, can end up killing their hosts.

But researchers credit ancient viruses with helping us form long term memories.

As parts of the world reopen for business, we consider how these little packets of genetic material are not just our enemy, but helped us to evolve.

Viruses, it turns out, shaped our genome, and will like be part of our evolutionary future.  5/8/2020.
