State Labor Violation: Castillo Seed Co. Has Not Paid Workers On Time in Six Months

PRESS RELEASE. From the San Mateo County Farmworker Affairs Coalition (FAC) meeting Friday, January 8th, 2021 held via Zoom. FAC members reported that Castillo Seed Company who rents space in the former Bay City Flower Nursery from Oso Vega, an agricultural services company focused on hemp, are now over two pay periods behind in paying their agricultural workers.

Half Moon Bay Poplar Annual Beach Parking Passes Are Now Available for $165 and $90

PRESS RELEASE.  Annual parking passes are now available!
In addition to the annual permit, this year the City introduces a new 9-month permit which runs from September through May.
Applications can be found on our website or by calling 650-726-8283.

  • The annual (12-month) permit is $165 and will run January through December.
  • The 9-month permit is $90 and runs September through May (excludes peak summer months)

Local Minimum Wage is $15/Hour in Half Moon Bay Effective January, 1st 2021

PRESS RELEASE.  Effective January 1, 2021, Half Moon Bay’s local minimum wage of $15.00/hour applies to all businesses operating within the geographic boundaries of the city of Half Moon Bay, for any employee working two or more hours per week. An employer may not use tips, or fringe benefits such as health insurance, vacation, sick leave, of other benefits to offset or use as a credit toward the employer’s obligation to pay the City’s minimum wage.

Live Fire Training & Helicopter Film Crew at Half Moon Bay Airport.

It’s that time of year again.

The County Airports staff and SFO Fire Department will again be conducting live-fire training at Half Moon Bay Airport (HAF) on January 18-20, 2021.

The north transient ramp at HAF will be closed January 15-21, 2021.

Fire trucks, flames, and smoke will be visible at HAF during the training exercises.

The training will be conducted by Industrial Emergency Council (IEC) using its self-contained mobile simulated (propane) fire trainer.

Using Curative self-administered testing kits, you simply swab your own mouth and you’re done.

Testing will offer safe, outdoor walk-up access.

Tests are free, no insurance necessary, but if you have it, bring your information.
