This committee is the only VOAD (Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster) in San Mateo County and has been dubbed “The Trail Blazers” by the state of California.

Committee Chair: David Cosgrave

What the NFL taught us about COVID-19

OWN VOICE. ~ InPerspective by Bruce Laird, with Gregg Dieguez —

Now that the NFL completed an entire season of 269 games without a cancellation (though it was close),  people are saying “The NFL Beat COVID-19”.   Not quite.  It was more like “The NFL Ran Away From COVID-19”, which is exactly what WE should have done.  Here’s how – without a vaccine – the NFL used longstanding Public Health measures of Transmission, Testing, and Contact Tracing to preserve lives and health and continue to make billions….

Did You Know Americans Who Made $72,000 Or Less In 2020 Can Use the IRS “Free File” Tax Filing Service?

“Accountability for the IRS and its Free File Program”

It recently looked like the Free File Alliance — the industry group representing for-profit tax preparers like H&R Block and Intuit — were going to score a major legislative victory: the passage of the Taxpayer First Act. The House passed the bill, and the Senate was poised to, when press reports noted that the measure included a provision to block the IRS from ever developing its own platform for filing taxes.

Foragers Age 16 or Older Must Have a Valid Sport Fishing License to Gather Tidepool Animals

Today, seashore foraging is a means of legally gathering tidepool animals for personal use, with the side benefits of getting a little fresh air and exercise. But overharvest, or “overexploitation,” of marine life can have negative effects that ripple throughout a tidepool community and beyond. By severely reducing the number and type of plants and animals, overexploitation can weaken the resiliency of the intertidal area, making recovery difficult in the face of threats like pollution, oil spills, storms, and climate change. For tidepools, even being prodded and trampled by too many careless human hands and feet can be devastating.

That’s where bag limits on the number of tidepool.
