MSWD STAFF REPORT.
The District uses several pipelines that cross under Hwy 1 to deliver water to homes and businesses that are located west of Hwy 1. One of the mainlines crossing the Highway is located between Carlos Street and the northern section of Vallemar Street.
It was installed before the Highway existed, in the early 1940’s and has despite it’s age remained in very good condition with little history of leaks.
The section of pipe on the western edge of the crossing runs up a steep embankment and is partially exposed or very shallow and therefore subject to erosion. The pipe failed at this location in the embankment for the first time in 2018 and was repaired with temporary means.

PHOTO ESSAY. The Old Haul Road, in present-day Pescadero Creek County Park, follows the historic route through the redwoods of a railroad line originally built by the Santa Cruz Lumber Company in the 1930s and 40s to haul logs to its mill.
The lumber company converted it to a truck road in the 1950’s, and in 1971 San Mateo County purchased the property as a county park. Today, the unpaved road is a popular hiking and biking route, and is essential vehicle access for park management, emergency response and fire protection.

Q AND A. with San Mateo County Harbor District Pillar Point Harbor Master, Chris Tibbe.
As I was biking through the harbor today, I noticed they were demolishing another boat. Bystanders were oggling three jet skis that had been on the boat. They seemed to be begging for adoption, rather than the dump.
So, I emailed the Harbor Master, Chris Tibbe, my question.

We all have to wear masks these days. I have to wear a mask while volunteering for the Project Baseline/Verily/Google Covid Testings in Half Moon Bay.
(Pssst. Next testing 9/22/2020 … stay tuned.)
My mask needs to be breathable and comfortable while maintaining protection for the testing clients (in cars, windows up) and Covid protection to me, and now, from the smoke.
I’ve tried quite a few mask and this is my favorite and this is why.

PRESS RELEASE from Montara Water and Sanitary District as of 8/25/2020.
As fires burn to our south, I want to assure the Montara and Moss Beach communities that Montara Water and Sanitary District (MWSD) is fully prepared to deliver drinking and firefighting water for our communities. MWSD operates and maintains Montara and Moss Beach’s community-owned public drinking water – and firefighting – system. The system is designed and operated to supply adequate water to address house and property fires in our local community. Recent articles have circulated information about our water system that is not accurate.
We have more than 4 days of reserve water storage on hand – that means 4 times what our community uses in a day (on average).
We meet and exceed the industry standard. Our local firefighters know and confirm that we are prepared.

With a tenacious eye, Richard began watching chefs in Hawaii as they prepared pigs for traditional Luaus. The allure of the banquet sized paella pan for up to 200 guests enables everyone to enjoy his superb culinary treats.
As a personal chef, I specialize in recreating authentic, vegan, gluten free paella. My pleasure is to keep paella coming to your table for your parties. No job is ever too big, or too small, too near or too far. Please contact me for more information or to book a date. ~ Richard
