Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety ~ Movie at HMBHS

IndieFlix Shines the Light on Anxiety with Must-See Documentary,

IndieFlix, a leading independent online streaming platform, along with its non-profit arm, the IndieFlix Foundation, is sparking a global conversation about anxiety through screenings of its brand-new documentary, “Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety”. 

On Wednesday February 12th beginning at 6:45PM, Half Moon Bay High School will hold a FREE screening of the documentary to open up a dialogue between local families, community leaders and experts. The event will feature a viewing of the 56-minute film, followed by an informative panel discussion.

HMBHS Black & Orange Ball Athletic Fundraiser ~ Go Cougars!


Even if you don’t have a kid in school anymore, this year is all hands on deck for anyone who believes in kids and athletics.

The 10th Anniversary Black & Orange Ball is a critical fundraiser for funding of the Half Moon Bay High School Certified Athletic Trainer, and all the sports programs at HMBHS.

Given the recent news on CUSD’s $55K cut to HMBHS Athletics, we need you now more than ever.

Please plan to attend this very important fundraiser.

This will be a very special B&O, as we celebrate 10 years of this fun filled event.

Native American Lifeways HMB History Association Lecture at the Odds
 

“Native American Lifeways: 

Half Moon Bay Area and San Francisco Peninsula”

Date: Tuesday, February 11, 2020

Place: Odd Fellows Lodge, 526 Main Street, Half Moon Bay

Time: 5:30 p.m. doors open – finger foods and refreshments – program at 6:00 p.m.

In its first collaboration with the Odd Fellows Lodge, the Half Moon Bay History Association presents another unique speaker’s event on February 11, 2020.  Archaeologist Mark Hylkema returns to discuss a new topic centered on the Ohlone and their endurance from early colonial times to the present.

 



Pacific Beach Coalition Surf Movie Night ~ The Great Highway; Soul of SF Surfing
 

Pacific Beach Coalition and Pedro Point Surf Club are hosting its 13th annual Surf Movie Night in Pacifica.

This years film is “Great Highway, Journey to the Soul of San Francisco Surfing”.

There are two showings, 6 PM & 8:30 PM.

There will be speakers, a raffle with prizes from local businesses, beer provided by Pedro Point and all proceeds go towards helping to keep our beaches & Ocean healthy.

Debbie Ruddock Sees Non-Occupancy Short Term Rentals as Armageddon


VIDEO. City of Half Moon Bay’s Debbie Ruddock makes some pretty horrifying predictions about non-owner occupied Short Term Rentals that are owner by absentee LLC investors.

Council person Debbie Ruddock warns that corporations are a threat to our housing stock. And that the Census Bureau says 3 million and 13 million apartment units  are own by LLCs, LLPs, LPs or shell companies (mostly anonymous). Armageddon?


 




Crystal Springs Dam Bridge Construction Tour


What to Expect:

  • The Bridge will close to all car traffic Monday through Friday. There is no anticipated work on weekends and holidays.
  • The Trail Portion of the Bridge will remain open, but hikers and cyclists could experience occasional delays of approximately 15 minutes during weekday work hours
  • Flaggers will temporarily halt trail traffic when the crane arm is in motion and it is not safe to be under it.  
  • The bridge will reopen to car traffic at sunrise on Saturdays, and will close at sunset on Sundays and holidays.

CCWD Discusses Electoral Conversion From At Large to 5 Zone Districts

The Coastside County Water District has had four of the five required noticed public hearings to discuss the electoral zones for our District.

The final meeting will be held on February 11, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. and at this time, the Board will choose one of the draft electoral maps and will decide:

  • which three (3) of the five (5) new zones will elect a Board member in 2020
  • and which two (2) of the five (5) new zones will elect a Board member in 2022

All analysis, presentation, delivery of information, maps and materials have complied with the objectives of the districting rules and goals.
