CAL Fire FIRE RISK Report ~ Kings Mtn. 2nd and El Granada 16th on Fuel Reduction List

ARTICLE / LINK. Do you have 100 feet of DEFENSIBLE SPACE around your home?

Here is the problem:

#2 Kings Mountain Roadside, 467 acres, 271,096 ~ 2nd largest affected population

#16 El Granada Quarry Park Fuel Break, 250 acres, 100, 433 ~ 6th large affected population

100 Feet of Defensible Space is the Law

In January 2005 a new state law became effective that extended the defensible space clearance around homes and structures from 30 feet to 100 feet. Proper clearance to 100 feet dramatically increases the chance of your house surviving a wildfire. This defensible space also provides for firefighter safety when protecting homes during a wildland fire.

HISTORY Lecture ~ The Lost Town of Purissima

Site of Purissima from Verde Road near Highway 1, May 2008.

Located on José María Alviso‘s Rancho Cañada de Verde y Arroyo de la Purisima in a rural area four miles (6 km) south of Half Moon Bay, the village was one of the earliest settlements on the San Mateo County coast, founded in an agricultural area in the early 1850s. The community was badly flooded by Purisima Creek in January 1862, the same month that much of northern California experienced its worst floods in history. Some fields and buildings were swept away.[1]

BEDTIME STORIES

How to Record & Edit Your Own mp3 Podcast for Bedtime Stories!

“Watch this instructional video on “How to Record and Edit Your Own mp3 Podcast for Bedtime Stories!”  Anyone can record a podcast.

  • Are you a parent that works late, or travels a  lot? How would your little one like to hear your voice before they nod off to sleep?
  • Grandma and Grandpa can’t usually be there all the time. How comforting to remind your child of their grandparents, and that their voice read to you, too, when you were little. Nostalgic for parents and grandparents.
  • Friends of kids. Know a kid that you just love a whole bunch? Read a Bedtime Story for them for their birthday, or Christmas, or just cause you’d like to share a story you loved when you were a kid.

Bedtime Stories ~ Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree

This Honey Tree story has an interesting genealogy. Originally, A.A. Milne wrote it in 1926, and it was published by E.P. Dutton & Co..  And Disney turned several of the original stories into an animated featurette in 1966. By 1974 Disney partnered with Little Golden Books. Bob Totten adapted the original text for this version of the story.  Pictures were created by Disney Studio. Sort of a Disney Flip book.

Pooh tries to get his honey. He observes, assesses, acts, pivots and reassesses. He is such a smart bear. And Christopher Robins (A.A. Milne’s son!) is such a smart and kind boy.
