Sign Up to Count Bikes and Pedestrians 9/10th-15th on the Coastside

ARTICLE/ LINKS. The National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation (NBPD) Project is a nationwide effort to provide data collection and ongoing data for use by planners, governments, and the general public.

For 2019, the count period is September 10th — 15th. The County of San Mateo needs dedicated volunteers like you to help with the in-field data collection.

This means that you get to be outside enjoying a couple of hours in the beautiful, mid-peninsula weather while recording those who walk and bike past. Each shift is two hours and you can indicate your location and time preferences.

Please note that depending on the number of applications we receive for specific locations, we may not be able to accommodate your preferred count location.

The State of California is Causing CUSD’s Financial Crisis

VIDEO. Cabrillo Unified School District Financial Overview and Considerations to Inform Mid-Term Financial Solvency.  This is complicated and sad.  Please watch (or listen) to the video so you understand how CUSD is funded. The building are irrelevant to the budget, comes from another funding source.

Do you know how the state funds schools?

Why aren’t corporations, the end-user of the public school product?

Keep in mind the property has has senior exemptions.

Parcel tax renewal would continue to be $150 per year, as was the previous parcel tax. No new taxes.

It represent $1.6 million, each year.  Loosely, that represent 16 employees lost, each year, until the district goes to lay offs and furlough days.

Abundant Grace Fundraiser Dinner, Sept. 14, 2019

SAVE THE DATE! Please join Tunitas Creek Kitchen at Potrero Nuevo Farm on Saturday, September 14 for a special fundraiser dinner. This fun, feel-good event will flow like our other dinners but will benefit our friends at Abundant Grace Coastside Worker. We’ll kick off at 5pm with a farm tour, followed by a 4 course farm-to-table feast. Also included in this outdoor evening on the farm will be local wine and beer, live music, a silent auction and a short presentation about Abundant Grace.

Abundant Grace is a non-profit that runs an employment program for folks who are down on their luck, many homeless. They get a stipend to come to the farm and harvest, and the produce is taken into Half Moon Bay and distributed to low-income families. This program is really changing lives, from the impact of giving people purpose and work, to providing families in need with 20,000 pounds of donated produce.

We at Tunitas Creek Kitchen will be donating the fundraiser’s proceeds to this awesome non-profit, specifically to their farm employment program. So, you are already contributing to their efforts by buying a dinner ticket. There will be another opportunity to support them at the event, all in the spirit of keeping their incredible efforts going!

BUY YOUR TICKETS 2019 Annual Farm to Table Dinner. $195
