The Coalition of Pacificans for an Updated Plan (CPUP) are using their opposition to the Vistamar project as a cudgel to try to force the City of Pacifica to update its General Plan. CPUP is trying to get the courts to force what it has not been able to achieve through the political process. Instead of petitioning the City Council, it is petitioning the Superior Court of San Mateo County. This is an improper use of the litigation process and is destined to fail.

Recommendation:  Receive an update on electric bicycle use on City trails and provide comments for consideration.

Background: When electric bicycles (e-bikes) were introduced, most municipal and parks agencies categorized them as motorized vehicles and prohibited them on trails along with traditional motorized vehicles and devices like scooters and motorcycles.

Read the latest news release on the City of Half Moon Bay’s purchase of 880 Stone Pine Road – Property to become permanent site of City Corporation Yard.
 

On Friday, January 15, 2021, the City of Half Moon Bay closed escrow on the purchase of a 21-acre property at 880 Stone Pine Road. Fronting on Highway 92 near the eastern Half Moon Bay limits, the property has been leased by the City since 2009, with most of it used as the City’s corporation yard facility. The purchase price was $2.18 million.

District 3 includes the cities of Atherton, Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, Portola Valley, San Carlos, Woodside and parts of Belmont and Menlo Park. It also includes numerous unincorporated areas mainly in the coastal areas of the County.

Director Ric Lohman serves as a Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside (SAM) Director representing MWSD. He asked for an opportunity to review and discuss the process SAM is undertaking to assess biological impact to an area erroneously used as staging area for the SAM Force Main Segment 4 replacement project. RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report from Director Lohman, discus and advise the MWSD-SAM representatives.
