GREAT NEWS. Regarding bike, kayak and stand up paddle rentals being allowed, the primary consideration is if they are primarily outside businesses (as opposed to being an indoor office space).
If so, and if you practice protocols like wiping down high touch surfaces, you can operate.
Yacht Club sailing—the consideration is if you can practice proper social distancing on the watercraft.
Skate parks are allowed.
Summer camps are allowed only if they provide child care to essential workers.
I’m not sure if you’ve visited the Shelter FAQ page, but you may find some other useful information here: https://www.smcgov.org/shelter-place-faqs
I hope that helps and please let us know if you need anything else,
Michelle Durand, Chief Communications Officer, San Mateo County

My Lab is happy about SMC’s forthcoming easing of recreational restrictions, even though people still aren’t petting him. However, California as a whole is still heavily restricted. But California is among the best states in handling this, right? And the Bay Area was ahead of the curve, right? So why are WE still shut down? Let’s divide this week’s article into 4 topical sections:
1. How IS California doing compared to the rest of the country?
2. IS California ready to open now?
3. What statistics can you BELIEVE about COVID-19?
4. So what? What do we do when, and how?

MAPS from San Mateo County Office of Sustainability and SURVEY.
We have developed specific pedestrian safety and access improvement recommendations at 11 locations. We identified these locations through our technical analysis and through community input in the first phase of outreach. We will also develop pedestrian design guidance for unique unincorporated County character areas to accompany these focus area recommendations and guide additional pedestrian improvements in the communities. Improvements proposed in the pedestrian focus area locations are representative of the types of improvements that could be implemented elsewhere in the community.

California defines Certified Farmers’ Markets as “essential services” in the Shelter in Place order. When we open for the season there will be several changes in place to support the wellbeing of our farmers, our staff, and our shoppers. We are asking the community to keep these protocols in mind, and be as committed to keeping our local farmers, ranchers, fishers and foodmakers healthy during this remarkable time as we are committed to doing the same for you.

As the world turned upside down with the spread of COVID-19, it became clear that the exhibition would not be able to take place in-person as communities responded to shelter-in-place orders to protect public health.
