PRESS RELEASE. From the Fire Safe San Mateo County website.The Neighborhood Chipper Program is based on a “you cut, we chip” model. Residents are responsible for cutting, gathering and piling vegetation from around their homes to a roadside or dop-off location. We will provide chipping crews who visit neighborhood-by-neighborhood to chip vegetation either back on site or for removal. Chips will be hauled off at no cost. The program is designed to assist homeowners/residents in maintaining defensible space.

GM, Kishen Prathivadi, noted that the California Construction Costs Index indicates anincrease in construction costs comparing February 2021 costs to February 2022 costs of 16.8%.


City of Half Moon Bay Celebrates Launch of Crisis Assistance Response and Evaluation Services (CARES) Pilot Program

PRESS RELEASE. From the City of Half Moon Bay on March 16th, 2022.

Today, the City, along with El Centro de Libertad and over 100 community members, public safety officials, and elected officials launched the kickoff of the Crisis Assistance Response & Evaluation Services (CARES) Pilot Program.

This groundbreaking program now offers an alternative response to mental health-related 911 calls traditionally answered by law enforcement, fire, or ambulance. 911 dispatch operators will now have the option to deploy the CARES mobile crisis unit made up of a certified emergency medication technician and behavioral health clinician trained in de-escalation and suicide prevention.

The Coastside History Museum in the Jail at 505 Johnston St has reopened  Saturday and Sunday with limited hours (usually 12-2).  Masks are optional for fully vaccinated visitors, otherwise masks are required. As part of Make It Main Street, it will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month.
