Martins Beach is Sued Again for Access by the California State Lands Commission

Lawsuit Filing by California State Lands Commission and the California Coastal Commission  VS Martins Beach 1, LLC and Martins Beach 2, LLC.

State sues over access to Martin’s Beach

Half Moon Bay Review 1/7/2020. SUBSCRIBE! Only $25/year for digital access:

"Access to the stretch of coastline south of Half Moon Bay has been a point of contention for about a decade. The state contends that Martin’s Beach historically has been used a public beach since at least the early 1990s. Locals recall using the beach for decades earlier than that. The Coastal Commission says it has written accounts, photographs, personal journal entries and news articles that reportedly prove the beach has been available to the public for generations."

How Development Will Undermine Your Water, Sewer and Fire Security

ARTICLE.  Insights, Infrastructure, and In General topics on Sustainability by Gregg Dieguez

(Speech given at the 1/8/2020 Midcoast Community Council Meeting).

I speak to you tonight about the lack of sustainability on our mid-coast, and what it means to you: the residents, ratepayers, and taxpayers.

You are aware that the Big Wave development, placed on an earthquake fault, in a tsunami zone, in the 14th worst fire evacuation location in the state, has been approved. You should be aware that the County has sponsored via non-recourse loans a development by Mid-Pen on Cypress Point which would add hundreds of residents in a small area, and slow traffic to 23 mph at all times via a series of round-abouts to cope with the massive and dangerous traffic congestion which will result – turning “Highway” 1 into a residential back road.

State of Coastside CERT by HMB Batallion Chief David Cosgrave

Happy New Year!
We begin this year with more than a thousand people participating in Coastside CERT, which along the way has become the fastest growing volunteer emergency preparation organization in the region. Continuing growth calls for scaling up our volunteer leadership to stay responsive to our members. I am pleased to announce our expanding team.

First, please join me in thanking Emily Kim for her invaluable leadership during our startup year in the
revitalization of Coastside CERT. Emily has resigned from her position as Coastside CERT Coordinator but will continue to be active in her neighborhood, involved in our CERT and Ham communities, and has offered to continue harnessing my random thoughts into messages that can be shared with all of you. (You may or may not know how lucky you are for that!)
Thank you Emily!
