STRONG START TO 2017 A good start to 2017 with just under 1000 cattle on offer today with prices at least on par with where they finished in 2016 thanks to healthy competition from re-stockers, processors and feedlots. The first store sale for the year is this Friday 13th January.
STEERS Vealer steers sold to 370c/kg (416c/kg), yearlings to 362c/kg (374c/kg) and grown steers sold to 328c/kg (300c/kg). Highlights included:
Limo and Angus x Limo steers (pictured below left) sold by IML on account Mataphouri Pastoral Co sold to 365c/kg and averaged 303kg/$1106;
Hereford steers sold by CP on account Riamukka made 345c/kg and averaged 385kg/$1330;
Angus steers sold by B&S on account M & B Landsdowne made 344c/kg and averaged 415kg/$1430;
Charolais x steers sold by CP on account RJ Laurie made 336c/kg and averaged 455kg/$1529;
Red Angus steers (pictured below middle) sold by NLP on account Graham Hill, Piallaway made 335c/kg and averaged 484kg/$1621;
Hereford steers (pictured below right) sold by PPA on account PH & SR Wilson made 302c/kg and averaged 552kg/$1667; and
Angus steers sold by CP on account Weir made 295c/kg and averaged 640kg/$1888.
HEIFERS Vealer heifers sold to 365c/kg (360c/kg), yearlings sold to 332c/kg (330c/kg) and grown heifers sold to 306c/kg (280c/kg). Highlights included:
Santa x heifers sold by ELD on account Irene Wyatt sold to 348c/kg for the lighter heifers with the heavier heifers making 330c/kg and averaging 311kg/$1026;
Run of Limo and Angus x Limo heifers sold by IML on account Mataphouri Pastoral Co sold to 365c/kg and came back at 316kg/$1153; and
Charolais heifers (pictured below left) sold by LMK on account Glenbuddah made 322c/kg and averaged 444kg/$1430.
COWS Cowssold to 249c/kg (210c/kg) for Angus cows (pictured above right) sold by LMK on account Daniel Elias. They came back at 551kg/$1664.
BULLS Bulls sold to 368c/kg (288c/kg).
