Tamworth Prime Cattle Market Highlight

Yearling heifers and cows fare best at Tamworth today
It’s heating up again in Tamworth with numbers also up on last week with a good yarding of cows and light and medium weight yearling heifers performing well in a strong market. Increased demand for heavy steers also saw a corresponding increase in price.

STEERS
Vealer steers sold to 458c/kg (401c/kg), yearlings to 394c/kg (379c/kg) and grown steers sold to 337c/kg (339c/kg). Highlights included: 
  • Lightweight Angus/Angus x steer calves sold by LMK on account Walcha vendor made 458c/kg and averaged 138kg/$632;
  • Hereford weaner steers (pictured below left) sold by IML on account Emu Hills made 392c/kg and averaged 216kg/$846;
  • Milk tooth Charolais steers sold by NLP on account M & C Parker made 382c/kg and averaged 277kg/$1058;
  • Vealer steers sold by G&C on account Kaluder made 375c/kg and averaged 296kg/$1110;
  • Angus steers sold by PPA on account Glenview Pastoral made 394c/kg and averaged 293kg/$1154;
  • Vealer steers sold by G&C on account Bretandra sold to 374c/kg and averaged 332kg/$1241;
  • Steers sold by IML on account G Pursehouse made 345c/kg and averaged 385kg/$1328;
  • Steers sold by B&S on account McCulloch made 345c/kg and averaged 406kg/$1400;
  • EU accredited Hereford steers (pictured below middle) sold by ELD on account Noakes sold to 358c/kg for the lighter steers and 350c/kg for the heavier steers that came back at 407kg/$1424;
  • Angus steers sold by B&S on account Kevin O’Shea made 319c/kg and averaged 516kg/$1646;
  • Angus feeder steers (pictured below right) sold by G&C on account FA & GT Klassen made 343c/kg and averaged 486kg/$1667;
  • 4 and 6 tooth bullocks sold by LMK on account C Refalo made 292c/kg and averaged 638kg/$1850; and
  • Steers sold by IML on account Quirindi breeder made 335c/kg and averaged 557kg/$1866.


HEIFERS
Vealer heifers sold to 430c/kg (353c/kg), yearlings sold to 348c/kg (343c/kg) and grown heifers sold to 300c/kg (320c/kg). Highlights included:
  • Angus and Angus x heifer calves sold by LMK on account Monie made 430c/kg and averaged 141kg/$606;
  • Milk tooth Charolais heifers sold by NLP on account Parker made 340c/kg and averaged 274kg/$931;
  • Milk tooth Limousin heifers (pictured below left) sold by IML on account Quirindi breeder made 332c/kg and averaged 329kg/$1094;
  • Angus/Angus x heifers (pictured below middle) sold by NLP on account J Anderson made 329c/kg and averaged 386kg/$1269;
  • Angus heifers sold by G&C on account Bundaleer Pastoral Co made 312c/kg and averaged 454kg/$1416; and
  • Heifers off the grain sold by IML on account Belandi made 310c/kg and averaged 484kg/$1500.


COWS
Cows sold to 253c/kg (252c/kg) for cows (pictured above right) sold by IML on account DW & MA Corbould. They came back at 731kg/$1849.

BULLS
Bull sold to 270c/kg (284c/kg) for 600+kg bulls for an estimated top price of $2625.
