Tamworth Prime Cattle Market Highlight

Lightweight cattle regain ground
The best results today were for the lightweight cattle with vealer steers and heifers well up on last week and some quality yearlings were firm to dearer. Supply is still the biggest issue with no big numbers coming forward.

STEERS
Vealer steers sold to 433c/kg (402c/kg), yearlings to 406c/kg (393c/kg) and grown steers sold to 345c/kg(327c/kg). Highlights included: 
  • Angus/Angus x weaner steers sold by PITT on account Mark Slager sold to 430c/kg and averaged 194kg/$834 with Charolais weaner steers from the same vendor making 433c/kg and averaging 204kg/$883;
  • Angus weaner male calves (pictured below left) sold by NLP on account Rod Hojer made 414c/kg and averaged 217kg/$900;
  • Hereford steers (pictured below middle) sold by DCM on account Wynne made 395c/kg and averaged 301kg/$1189;
  • Angus/Angus x steers (pictured below right) sold by IML on account Riverlea Partnership made 388c/kg and averaged 329kg/$1276;
  • Angus steers sold by LMK on account Woodridge Pastoral made 388c/kg and averaged 339kg/$1316 with the heavier steers making 368c/kg and averaging 403kg/$1485;
  • Santa x steers sold by PPA on account Tapoy Pastoral Co made 345c/kg and averaged 445kg/$1535; and
  • Angus steers sold by LMK on account AT & MD Jeffkins made 342c/kg and averaged 466kg/$1596; and
  • Angus yearling steers sold by IML on account JD & IB Hedley made 351c/kg and averaged 471kg/$1653;
HEIFERS
Vealer heifers sold to 430c/kg (365c/kg), yearlings sold to 360c/kg (348c/kg) and grown heifers sold to 312c/kg (314c/kg). Highlights included:
  • Angus weaner heifers sold by PITT on account Mark Slager made 430c/kg and averaged 174kg/$748 with Charolais heifers making 388c/kg and averaging 209kg/$811;
  • EU accredited Angus heifers sold by ELD on account Molgo Pty Ltd made 344c/kg and averaged 285kg/$980.
  • Hereford heifers sold by DCM on account Wynne made 390c/kg and averaged 260kg/$1014;
  • Angus x heifers sold by PPA on account F & A Fallowfield made 340c/kg and averaged 360kg/$1224;
  • Yearling Charolais heifers (pictured below) sold by IML on account Retaru sold to 331c/kg and averaged 361kg/$1195 with the heavier heifers making 325c/kg and averaging398kg/$1293; and
  • Angus heifers sold by LMK on account Woodridge Pastoral made 331c/kg and averaged 349kg/$1157 for the lighter heifers with the heavier heifers making 285c/kg and averaging 465kg/$1326.

COWS
Cows sold to 249c/kg (256c/kg). Highlights included:
  • Hereford cows (pictured above right) sold by B&S on account Rothbury Pastoral Co made 240c/kg and averaged 588kg/$1412;
  • Santa cows sold by G&C on account GC & C Wilkinson made 243c/kg and averaged 615kg/$1494; and
  • Charbray cows (pictured below) sold by ELD on account Weroona Partnership made 248c/kg and averaged 620kg/$1537.
BULLS
Bulls sold to 266c/kg (308c/kg).
