Tamworth Prime Cattle Market Highlight

Total yarding - 1285 (1095)

(NB. Figures in brackets are last week's prices/numbers)

Market mainly firm
Numbers were up slightly today with agents quoting the market as firm to dearer for the best cattle and a strong market for the better heavy cows. There was also some very good heifers on offer.

STEERS
Vealer steers sold to 422c/kg (401c/kg), yearlings to 393c/kg (405c/kg) and grown steers sold to 351c/kg (346c/kg). Highlights included:  
  • Angus vealer steers sold by NLP on account Wy-Wurrie Partnership made 422c/kg and averaged 151kg/$637;
  • Angus steers sold by ELD on account O’Grady made 367c/kg and averaged 338kg/$1240;
  • Angus yearling steers (pictured below left) sold by CP on account R & A Segboer made 365c/kg and averaged 354kg/$1292;
  • Steers (pictured below middle) sold by PPA on account PH & SR Wilson made 345c/kg and averaged 478kg/$1649
  • Steers (pictured below right) sold by G&C on account Avard made 351c/kg and averaged 473kg/$1660;
  • A single Angus steer sold by DCM made 310c/kg and came back at 605kg/$1872; and
  • Hereford steers sold by PPA on account Mrs Eileen Coombes made 309c/kg and averaged 606kg/$1872.

HEIFERS

Vealer heifers sold to 433c/kg (416c/kg), yearlings sold to 345c/kg (340c/kg) and grown heifers sold to 332c/kg (305c/kg). Highlights included:
  • Vealer heifers sold by NLP on account Wy-Wurrie Partnership sold to 433c/kg for the lightest heifers and the heavier calves made 409c/kg and averaged 154kg/$629;
  • Angus/Angus x heifers (pictured below left) sold by G&C on account KM & KM Straw made 339c/kg and averaged 304kg/$1030 with Charolais heifers from the same vendor making 345c/kg and averaging 279kg/$962;
  • Santa heifers sold by PPA on account Redgrove made 384c/kg and averaged 384kg/$1282;
  • An outstanding run of Angus yearling heifers (pictured below) sold by IML on account Retaru sold to 334c/kg and averaged 323kg/$1078 with the heavier heifers making 318c/kg and averaging 412kg/$1310.
  • Angus/Angus x yearling heifers sold by G&C on account Bretandra made 299c/kg and averaged 447kg/$1336;
  • Heifers sold by PPA on account PH & SR Wilson made 345c/kg and averaged 420kg/$1415; and
  • Limousin x heifers sold by IML on account Matapouri sold to 307c/kg and averaged 494kg/$1516.


















COWS
Cows sold to 258c/kg (243c/kg) for Charolais x cows (pictured below left) sold by DCM on account AT & HM Ferris. They came back at 685kg/$1768. Other good sales included:
  • Cows (pictured below right) sold by PPA on account CK & JM Smith made 256c/kg and averaged 689kg/$1763; and
  • Angus cows sold by NLP on account Wy-Wurrie Partnership made 242c/kg and averaged 590kg/$1425.








BULLS
Bulls sold to 271c/kg (270c/kg).
