From NECOM Director, Russell Bauer
Welcome back to all NECOM families and friends! As you read this, 2018 is already one-sixth over. In fact, 2020 is barely 16,000 hours away (it’s true, do the sums). I point this out to emphasise the fact that time is passing by rapidly. Stepping into my time-machine, I can see that by the last day of 2018 NECOM will have again hosted the nationally-recognised “New England Sings” in October. Opera Australia will have completed a successful tour of Puccini’s incomparable “Madame Butterfly” in August. Armidale audiences will have delighted to the sounds of Karin Schaupp and Umberto Clerici in April (tickets selling fast), Richard Gill and the stunning Sydney Chamber Choir in May, and the wonderful Goldner Quartet in November. Eisteddfods will have come and gone; so too Winter Choral Concerts, Foundation Concerts, and the Junior Orchestra Workshop. The Armidale Youth Orchestra will have turned 50 in August, having presented another Garden Party in April. 2018 will also see the birth of our new Percussion Program, and a greater NECOM presence in the annual Autumn Festival…
…and here we are with the Ides of March fast approaching; there’s no time to waste! We look forward to having you join us on another wonderful musical journey, and we thank you in advance for your support of all that we do here at NECOM. Now, where did I leave that DeLorean?
Mr Russell Bauer

Congratulations Annika |

Congratulations to Annika McGushin-Deak on receiving her AMusA in piano with Distinction!A result such as this for someone so young is extremely rare, and speaks to both Annika's musical maturity and the exemplary preparation from her teacher, Mrs Robyn Driscoll. The diploma is awarded by examination to outstanding candidates in the fields of musical performance and music theory by the AMEB.
