Dear Youth Leaders

Firstly my apologies that I have not sent a regular ebulletin like this in a while. It goes without saying that 2020 has been an unusual year and as the year draws to an end there is some hope for a return to normality in 2021 with promises of new vaccines.

We are continually monitoring the long term outlook for events and trying to balance the excitement about the potential to run May Camp in 2021 with the risks and financial implications of cancelling the event. Whatever happens we will be running something unique and exciting online, building on last year's success at May Camp Live. Updates about the physical event will be emailed and placed on our website.

In the coming weeks this second lockdown will be coming to an end and it currently looks like we will be moving back into the NYA Amber guidance, but the tier system will mean that some areas may have stricter rules on youth work gatherings than others. There is detailed guidance on our website and on the NYA website which is updated in line with national guidance as it changes. You can access this at https://youth.chichester.anglican.org/resources/distance/

I have seen and heard about fantastic things that you are doing in youth churches and communities, both online and in person. It has been a huge encouragement how you have been able to innovate and adapt. I remind myself daily that we serve a God who may be the same yesterday, today and forever; but that does not mean he is static. He will move to meet us where we are.

In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8

I hope that this email is a small encouragement in all the work you're doing with young people in our diocese. Please do pass me any resources, games, links or anything else you have found useful that you think may benefit others and I will pass it on and place it on our website.

God Bless

Dan

Advice

From the 2nd December it looks like much of Sussex will be returning to tier 1 or 2 and will follow the NYAs Amber guidance.
It is likely that we will return to bubbles of 15 for youth activities and the rule of 6 for services but please keep an eye on guidance as it is published on the following websites:
