Dear Youth Leaders

Just a few weekends ago over 550 people gathered at Plumpton Racecourse for May Camp 2019 - Wildfire. Over the weekend we looked at the formation of the Church and how the message of Jesus spread across the world like wildfire. In Acts 1:8 Jesus promises the Holy spirit. He says "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes" but he doesn't stop there. he continues: "Then you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the to the ends of the earth." The purpose of the Holy Spirit was to help us to be witnesses of Jesus. Not just in our home town or country but to the ends of the earth. The places we've not been and we don't know.  If you've never been to May Camp before then please do keep an eye out for videos and feedback from this year's event and check Instagram @maycampgb to see some pictures from the weekend.

As always you'll find details below of events, training, resources and vacancies. Please have a skim through and use anything that's helpful.

If you're also involved in children's work you may want to sign up for Irene's children and families mailing list too. You can do that here

If you'd like something circulated here or you're looking for something else, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.

God Bless

Pursuit is our brand new Diocesan gap year.
We're currently looking to recruit new Associates! Young adults aged 18-30 that would like to give a year for God. A year of discipleship and training that will stretch and mould you as you grow closer to Jesus. The year will provide opportunities to discern your future, be nurtured in your faith, give sacrificially to a church and community, be stretched and challenged, travel overseas on a mission trip and much more!
If you know a young person that is thinking about a gap year then please show them this information. We have hard copies of all the materials, if you'd like anything sent to you then please get in touch and we'd be more than happy to send it out.

All the booking forms are on the website, as well as information for becoming a placement and what might be involved in supporting a Pursuit Associate.

  • The Burns Price Foundation (BPF) offers grants to young people between the ages of 11-18 to fund adult-supervised projects that are for the public benefit and have a community-enhancing purpose.  We are particularly keen to support projects that focus on reparation, reconciliation, peace building, restorative justice or care for the local environment.
  • Whilst the applicant(s) must be enrolled in a school, college or youth organisation within the UK (and priority is given to UK projects), the project itself may be anywhere in the world.  Simply, if they have the idea, we have the money to help them.

St Mary Magdalene & St Denys
Youth and Children Worker, Midhurst Parish Church
A new full-time post
Salary range £24,000 - £26,000 (plus support for housing/relocation)

At Midhurst Parish Church in West Sussex we are excited to be growing our work with children and young people and need you to join our team!  We have a vicar and a team of volunteers who are passionate about, and experienced in, youth and children’s work.  Can you help us to expand this work?  As our new Youth and Children’s Minister, you’ll share in creating a vision for ministry and outreach to children and young people in our town.  The local secondary school, Midhurst Rother College, has around 1,200 pupils and you will focus on that age group as together we expand the age range of our youth activities and find new and creative ways of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with these young people.  You will also help our volunteers to develop and strengthen activities for younger children such as Messy Church and Sunday morning activities.

If you can help us to develop our vision for ministry to children, young people and their families in the heart of the South Downs National Park then we would love to talk to you.  We offer a permanent full-time post with in excess of three years’ funding already in place.  We can offer a heavily subsidised flat in the town centre or support with other housing.  Help with the cost of relocation may be available if required.

Just below you will find a letter from the vicar introducing the parish and the position, a copy of the job description and person profile and an application form.  If you are interested, we encourage you to ring our vicar, Dave Willis, on 07851721756 for an informal chat.
