Diabetes Education Day
November 7, 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Winchester Medical Center is hosting a diabetes education day this Saturday. Volunteers are needed to help set up tables for the event and act as guides for visitors.

A Veterans Day Presentation
Wednesday, November 11

This is a presentation of creative writing, featuring the original works of local and SU veterans, as well as medical personnel and service men and women from Walter Reed National Military Hospital.

Boys and Girls Club 

The Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Shenandoah Valley is looking for committed volunteers to be mentors for elementary and middle school students after school. If you would like to learn more, you can go to

Why be a mentor?
Campus Garden

The Shenandoah Salvage Company and the Environmental Studies Program are looking for volunteers to help plant and tend a new garden starting this spring.

Daniel Morgan Middle School Reading Program

Do you enjoy working with kids? Daniel Morgan Middle School is looking for volunteers to read with 5th-8th grade students. The school is within walking distance of campus.

UVote is an on-campus organization dedicated to helping students register to vote and spreading the word about the importance of exercising your right. 

UVote is currently looking for volunteers to help with voter registration in the future. If you are interested in helping, contact Cody Wiley at

The Congregational Community Action Project is a cooperative ministry of 45 area churches and one synagogue serving Winchester and Fredrick County. CCAP maintains a food pantry, a clothing room, and offers assistance for rent, utilities and prescriptions for those in need. 
CCAP is always in need of long and short-term volunteers. If you are interested, contact Lander Manuel at
WATTS stands for Winchester Temporary Thermal Shelter. WATTS is a collection of organizations who open their doors during the coldest months of the winter to offer a warm place to stay and a hot meal for those who don't have access to these necessities. 

Students have the opportunity on November 13 to sleep outside in the cold to raise money for the organization. For each amount of money earned, a student will be allowed access to another piece of warm clothing for the night.

Kitchen of Hope

Market Street United Methodist Church is looking for volunteers to serve and prepare meals for Kitchen of Hope, a program that provides free hot meals to the community on Thursday nights.
Volunteer commitment is from 4:15- 7:00 every Thursday. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please contact Jean Stewart at or 540-533-7547.
