Volunteers are needed to help our neighbouring cottage association, the North Pigeon Lake Association (NPLA), on two mornings - Thursday, August 8th and Thursday, September 5th.
Debbie Balika of Kawartha Conservation & Erin Smith of University of Ontario Institute of Technology are looking for volunteers to do nearshore water quality sampling in a number of the Kawartha Lakes (including Pigeon) - this is to complement the offshore sampling coordinated by KLSA and was recommended in Lake Management Plans.
Debbie is still looking for volunteers in the following areas:
· Alpine Village
· Fire Route 98
· Fire Route 103B
The nearshore water quality project requires volunteers for two days this summer:
Thursday, August 8th and Thursday, September 5th.
Samples need to be taken between 8-9AM and will be collected by researchers with Kawartha Conservation. All equipment and training required will be provided.
There may be Big Bald Lake Cottagers Association members that are in closer proximity to Fire Route 88 and Alpine Village than North Pigeon Lake Association members.
