Three of our directors and two committee members are stepping down and we would like to thank them for their service.
Glenn Joray served as BBLCA President this past year and as Treasurer for many years. Glenn is on the Board of Directors for the Buckhorn Community Centre and is a member of many of their committees and would like more time to devote to that position. Kim Letto stepped down as President last year to run for Councillor of our ward and was successful. Glenn and Kim will continue to host our Winter Carnival which has been the highlight of our winters here on the lake and we appreciate their continued support.
Mark Richardson has served as director for two years on the board. Mark has been such a big help with so many activities including regatta preparation and directory distribution. Mark will continue to volunteer with the association.
Nancy Boyce was elected to the board five years ago, but was already involved in maintaining the membership database for many years and will continue to manage membership. Nancy will also continue to maintain the website and volunteer with the association.
Sharron Curley served as Secretary. Sharron brought so much experience with her and helped us to automate our on-line registration that we use for contests and regatta sign-up. Sharron took minutes at AGMs and often at board meetings and was a tremendous help with quarry research which assisted the board of directors greatly in getting information out to the membership.
Norm Maia has conducted our Phosphorus testing for the past two years. John Boyce will be taking over the Phosphorus testing. Rich Corbin has been testing for E.Coli for a number of years and will continue to do so. Water testing is a critical part of protecting our lake.
We would like to thank Glenn, Mark, Nancy, Sharron and Norm for their service and John for assuming additional responsibilities. Of course, we would also like to thank our other board and committee members who are staying on for their contributions including Rich Corbin (Environment), Sue Flanagan (Social), Angela Gill (Treasurer) and Mariko Sormon (Social Media & Sponsorship).
