Hi <<First Name>>,

At Olivia’s we’ve always been committed to helping our customers lead the freshest life possible. We’re proud to fill your plates with healthy, organic vegetables that you can feel good about eating and about serving to your family.

We’re also proud to be a go-to source for organic information, and this week we’re tackling a big topic in the organic world—GMO’s. We hear and read a lot about them but, seriously, what the heck are they?

A GMO is defined as a “genetically modified organism.” When a GMO is introduced to a plant, it changes the its genetic composition. At Olivia’s our veggies are both Certified Organic and Non-GMO Verified. That means every spinach leaf, butternut squash and celery stalk has been planted, cultivated without synthetic pesticides or herbicides and without artificial engineering.

This week, we’re here to provide you with fresh hints to keep you in-the-know about GMO’s.

1.Read the label…all the way: While some companies like us have taken the step to clearly label products as “Non-GMO Verified,” it may not be as obvious with some others. When a food is not labeled as GMO-free or organic, read the full list of ingredients. If you see soy, canola, vegetable oil, or sugar that isn’t from cane, you could be looking at a genetically-modified food.
2. Know when and where to look: You’ve probably heard a lot about genetically-modified fish and corn, but GMO’s can be found in all sorts of fruits, vegetables, cereals, dairy -- even pet foods. Expanding your GMO-awareness will help you make in-the-know decisions about what you’re eating every time.
3. Visit The Non-GMO Project website: Here you can find a complete listing of over 31,000 individual products that are verified as non-GMO. As they say, knowledge really is power!
So the next time you go food shopping, keep these tips in minds to help you make the most informed decisions possible. And keep your eyes peeled for the new labeling on our packaging rolling out over the next few weeks. Olivia will still be there, front and center, but now she’ll be joined by the “Non-GMO Verified” seal.

Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter and thanks for supporting Olivia's Organics!

That’s it from us today – catch you next week!
