Volunteers and Referrals!

First things first- we are shy 3 volunteers for Tuesday. 2 for the early shift and 1 for the middle shift. Please sign up here big you are able to assist.

Secondly, I'd like to ask your  help to spread the word about our CSA to friends and neighbors. I'm still amazed that there are SO many people who have no idea what CSA's are so I'm sure that if you take a moment to share the opportunity with them, they will be oh so grateful! I mean, who doesn't want to save money on groceries, right??

I realize we are all busy preparing for our Labor Day weekends, so I want to offer the following incentive: Anyone who refers a new member, (who joins by September 9th at prorated pricing) will get a $25.00 credit to be used in our web store.

Simply direct folks to our website, where they will find all necessary information including weekly photos of our bountiful shares and the link to our online membership form. ***When the new member fills out the membership form, they will need to put your name in the box that asks "How did you hear about us?" so we can properly credit your account.

And if your not going to pick up this Tuesday or next because of the holiday, do consider giving your share(s)to a friend! That's actually the best way to introduce us as we often get new sign ups that way as well.

Recipes & Produce Tips

Kale and eggplant recipes!

Eggplant Parm!

3-4 large Eggplant, any variety or mixed
Marinara Sauce, about 4 cups
Basil, about 20 leaves
Fresh Mozzarella Cheese, one large ball (CSA!)
Shredded Mozzarella, about 1 cup
Parmesan Cheese, about ½ cup
Olive Oil
Unbleached Flour
Italian Breadcrumbs
Salt and Pepper

Kale Salad with Apricots, Avocado, and Parmesan

Serves one
6-8 ounces of kale (Tuscan or dino kale are particularly fantastic)
6-8 dried apricots
1/3 or so cup cooked beans (I love Good Mother Stallard beans, but also try cannellini or pinto beans)
1/4 or so cup almonds
8-10 flakes of Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/2 avocado
salt and pepper
