Cabinet approves the financing of improved briquette factory
During the irregular session of the Cabinet, the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry was appointed a shareholder of Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh LLC. Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi will be financing the construction of an enriched briquette factory, which will produce 600,000 tons of enriched briquettes annually, to reduce air pollution. Prime Minister U. Khurelsukh advised the cabinet's ministers to carry out the project with full transparency on financing and under strict legal monitoring.

Mongolia's state budget sees a surplus in 2018
The Mongolian state budget saw a surplus in 2018, with total income reaching 8.2 trillion MNT and total expenditure reaching 8 trillion MNT. The last profitable year for the state was 2012. The main reasons for the surplus were increased tax income, higher prices for copper and coal in the global market, and improvements to the value-added tax registration system.  By the end of the year, if there are no complications for coal transportation across the border, there will likely be an additional surplus.

Entrepreneur 2018 award ceremony held
The Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry held the Entrepreneur 2018 award ceremony on Friday, highlighting strong contributions to Mongolia's social and economic development. AmCham members MCS Coca Cola LLC, Khan Bank LLC, Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Energy Resources LLC, and Moncement Building Materials LLC, were some of the evening's Top Ten Business Entity award recipients, based on their tax contributions, corporate social responsibility initiatives, job creation, and export promotion. AmCham members MCS International LLC, International Medical Center LLC, Sky Hypermarket, Xac Bank, Tenger Insurance LLC, and Uniservice Solution LLC were named the top companies in their respective fields. AmCham member Monpolymet LLC received the Greenpreneur 2018 award, in recognition of its environmental rehabilitation program.

Two new political parties registered
The Supreme Court approved the registration of Ts. Narangerel's People’s Majority Governance Party. The party is the 29th political party registered with the state. The court also approved the registration of Z. Bat-Otgon's Great Unity Party, which is now the 30th political party registered with the state.
