MPP Caucus discusses SME Development Fund and 2019 state budget review
The Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) Caucus in Parliament held its regular session on October 29th. President Kh. Battulga attended the session to express his views regarding a draft of the 2019 state budget and said that Members of Parliament haven’t made sufficient efforts to reduce spending in the 2019 state budget, in accordance with his budget proposal. Chair of the Caucus D. Khayankhyarvaa also reported that the Ministry of Finance has started an investigation of the SME Development Fund, and that Cabinet will review findings from the investigation.

MSE introduces demo accounts
The Mongolian Stock Exchange (MSE) has introduced a stock trading simulator that creates demo accounts to improve the public's knowledge of the stock market and to increase the number of people participating in trading. The simulator is designed to allow people to practice stock trading by depositing funds into a demo account, purchasing or selling shares of publicly-traded companies, and paying brokerage fees. The account analysis function of the simulator will also allow participants to follow stock losses and profits on a daily basis.

Mandal Daatgal saw increased profits in Q3'18
In the third quarter of 2018, Mandal Daatgal JSC earned 3 billion MNT in net profits, an increase of 2.4 billion MNT compared to the same period in 2017. During the reporting period, the company recorded revenue of 21 billion MNT from its insurance premiums,  with construction premium revenue being 27 percent and vehicle insurance premium 16 percent of revenue. To yield more earnings, Mandal Daatgal has placed 15.1 billion MNT of its revenue into accounts at commercial banks and 3.2 billion MNT into corporate bonds.

International Trade Center’s Executive Director visits Mongolia
At the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs D. Tsogtbaatar, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) Arancha Gonzalez visited Mongolia on October 29th. The ITC has supported Mongolia in strengthening its foreign trade capacity and bolstering the competitiveness of its SMEs through collaboration with the public and private sectors. Ms. Gonzalez paid a courtesy call on President Kh. Battulga and met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg. It was noted during the visit that the ITC can provide assistance to Mongolia in youth entrepreneurship and tourism development.
