Foreign Minister hosts the Federal Councilor of Switzerland's FDFA


At the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia D. Tsogtbaatar, the Federal Councilor of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, is paying an official visit to Mongolia. The ministers exchanged views on expanding bilateral political, trade, and economic cooperation; increasing investment; strengthening ties in the food, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, tourism, education, sciences, and technology sectors; and signed several cooperation documents. Federal Councilor Cassis paid a courtesy call to President of Mongolia Kh. Battulga and also met with Minister of Finance Ch. Khurelbaatar. The Finance Minister and Cassis discussed Mongolia's designation of Switzerland as an offshore zone and agreed to further discuss the issue at the ministerial level. During his meeting with President Kh. Battulga, Cassis provided information about projects being led by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Mongolia in good governance, agriculture, and the environment, and expressed interest in expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

Minister of Defense takes part in the Moscow Conference on International Security


Minister of Defense N. Enkhbold participated in the 7th Moscow Conference on International Security, at the invitation of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation. Thirty defense ministers and delegations from 95 countries convened for the conference. The main topic of discussion focused on the conflict in Syria. Russian officials spoke about their experience in combating Islamic State forces in Syria and provided a prognosis of possible developments in the Middle East, including post-conflict reconstruction. During the forum, security issues in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America were also discussed.

MSE registers its first dual-listing request

Summary: On March 12, the Mongolian Stock Exchange received its first dual-listing request from Erdene Resource Development (ERD), which is also listed on Canada's Toronto Stock Exchange. Yesterday, the MSE registered four million ERD securities valued at 1.2 million CAD. After the Financial Regulatory Committee completes its evaluation of ERD's request, the MSE will officially report the dual-listing. Currently, there are 34 foreign stock exchange listed companies in Mongolia, most of which operate in the mining industry.

Trade turnover between Mongolia and Turkey reaches 29 million USD in 2017


Trade ties between Mongolia and Turkey have been strengthening in the last two years, with trade turnover of 29 million USD reached in 2017. Mongolia imports ten times as many goods from Turkey as it exports. The main commodities exported to Turkey include refined sheep and goat hides. According to data from the National Statistics Office, the export of goat hides increased by 11 times in 2017, compared to 2016, reaching 1.3 million USD. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that out of 63 entities receiving Turkish investment, 52 are businesses operating in the trade and restaurant industries.
