Ongoing Activities at the Eureka Community Bike Kitchen

Regular Bike Kitchen Open Hours

The Community Bike Kitchen's general open hours are Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jefferson Community Center at 1000 B Street, Eureka.

Women and Trans Open Hours

12-2 p.m. on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of every month!

During these hours, the shop will be operated by women, trans or genderqueer volunteers, and will be open exclusively to folks who identify as such. This program is a conscious effort to create a safe and welcoming space that encourages more women and gender minorities to learn, share, and participate. By addressing the special needs of certain groups, we hope to create a stronger, more inclusive and diverse biking community overall.

The Bike Kitchen needs volunteers to help to run this program! If you are interested in being involved, learning more about bike mechanics, or already have mechanical skills that you’d like to share, please contact Jess at Dorkus.malorcus@gmail.com.

Fixin'-My-Bike-Fridays

Our Friday bicycle maintenance workshops have been a great success! There is still much more to come! See the schedule below for upcoming workshops where you can learn more about how to maintain your bicycle!

Bike Kitchen Member Profile

The Roppolo Family

Jessica and Carl Roppolo were recently introduced to the Bike Kitchen by a neighbor and have since been dedicating volunteer time in order to earn bikes for their two girls, Brooklyn (9 years old) and Charlotte (4 years old). But that's not all, the kids are volunteering too! Brooklyn has made a real impression on the Bike Kitchen volunteers. She is very good at organizing and great at math. One evening in the bike kitchen, volunteers were trying to tally credits from previous days and Brooklyn was able to give the solution before the adults could! Brooklyn also helps test ride the kids bikes and lets the volunteers know what maintenance concerns there are. Currently, the family and other volunteers are working towards repairing a bike for Jessica so that she can ride with her daughters. We at the Bike Kitchen are so happy to see that we have the ability to inspire kids and to help local families to get and maintain their own bicycles!

Bike Kitchen Screen-printed Shirts and Jerseys Still Available
