Good days in Greece

We drove a lot since the last Newsletter around two weeks ago (almost 3000 km!). We left Albania the next day, and entered Greece. According to our initial "plan" (if there is something like that), we just wanted to drove through Northern Greece towards Turkey.
But once we where there, we decided to take the time and visit this country a little longer. We drove down the Western coastline and visited Delphi and its oracle. We were, pretty nerdy, the first visitors there at 8 am - and after 30 minutes we were more than happy about that. When the sun came over the mountains, it was just hot hot hot immediately. Nevertheless, after visiting the "old stones", we started a hike from Delphi down to the coast. It was a nice trek through the biggest and oldest olive grove in Greece. But at the end, we were happy about an ice cream and a swim in the sea after some hours melting in the blazing sun.
We visited Athens for three days and it was a great experience. More "old stones", spectacular views from different hills, relaxed night life and a lot of walking were more than worth it.
After these busy days, we had an eased evening in Cape Sounion with visiting the Temple of Poseidon at sunset (even the sun was behind clouds).

During research about sights in Greece, we already were impressed by the monasteries of Meteora. We drove back north. And in reality, for sure, the place is just great. There are really cool rock formations (due to some earth shifting and special weather conditions). Plus, they built small to huge monasteries on top of these rocks.
The last days in Greece, we spent more on the back roads. We had nice, hidden wild campsites near the beach (or on the beach) - with relaxed guests from time to time.
Right now, we are in Bulgaria. We are enjoying a few days off the road on a small campground, writing the blog, doing some Willie-maintenance and planning the further trip. Today, we published the next page of our travel guide - everything about Montenegro!

Goodbye Europe

In Athens, we found the original spare parts to our Koni shock absorber. Do you remember? We lost some parts in Albania on the most rocky track so far. Tomorrow, with the help of some Bulgarian mechanics, we are going to install the new parts.
Then, it is time for the next country - and for leaving Europe. We are heading towards Turkey, first stop Istanbul!

Here it is! Our regular gift! The best picture, made by us, for you! Makes a perfect desktop background. =)
