... Montenegro.
We are on the road for 17 days now (we decided to not count the testing phase in early May)! And it is great!
What happened so far.

We started really slowly and stayed in Switzerland with our friends for one week. We worked on our website and enjoyed the mountains and the cheese. A big thanks to Eisi and Karin at this point!
And to Oskar, even though he jumped out of the picture just the right second.
We continued our trip on some narrow roads through the Alps to Italy. The first night there, we slept at a campground at Lake Idro - it was the same campground we stayed on our first vacation together nine years ago. In fact, it was more a happy coincidence as the route in our GPS ended at this lake - but still romantic :)
Due to heavy rain, we drove directly to Croatia the next day.
You can watch two videos from the first stages of our trip on our Facebook page here.

In Croatia, we enjoyed the sunny weather at the coast and in the great national parks "Plitvicka jezera" and "Krka". Pictures from there will be on our website (hopefully soon).
Where we are.

Up until today, we had known almost nothing about Montenegro. We knew that it is a small country somewhere in the Balkans with supposedly black mountains, that's it. Who knows the name of the capital? We didn't. But now we get to know a country full of beautiful countryside - from Mediterranean coast over snowy mountains to deep canyons.
We enjoyed the first night in the Bay of Kotor and drove to the mountains of Durmitor national park the next day. The view from our campsite was like a postcard.
We booked a rafting tour on the river Tara - and had a day with less heavy rafting but even more breathtaking moments boating through the canyon with rock walls up to 1200 m high.
The next days, we did a hike to the Black Lake, drove around over the mountains, always in search of the best offroad parts. And today, we definitively found some. Willie did his best, and we challenged getting stuck in the mud for the first time successfully. But ending at a deadlock twice, we had to turn around and go back the road we initially came from - ending at the same point, we had been four hours before. In the end, it was worth the fun and the experiences, and will prolong our stay in this nice country a little bit.
What will come.

Next stage will be Albania, and we are looking forward to get to know the next unknown country.
Until then, you can read the latest blog post, watch the first Gallery with pictures from the days of the testing week, and browse through the updated Gear page (by now, there is not too much or too less we packed in our car).
We also updated the Travel Guide page: now, there is a map where you can see our actual route!!

Have fun! And, by the way, it is Podgorica. :)

The capacity of storage space is quite limited in an overland vehicle. You need to use every free corner to stow your things. On the other hand it has to be fixed well to withstand all bumps from the back roads. On the Buschtaxi Meeting we saw a Landcruiser equipped with... Read more>>
