SIS WEEKLY
深圳蛇口国际学校周报

Dear SIS community,

While the Covid-19 pandemic is continuing to be severe in some parts of the world, we have been well protected here in Shenzhen thanks to careful planning and attention to control strategies.

This is the season where general illness appears more common and we ask all parents to be vigilant for symptoms of any illness and to keep children at home as a precaution. It is much better for a child to stay at home and rest to recover than to come to school feeling unwell.

We are in continuous communication with the authorities as health circumstances are adjusted. This week we have seen some new cases in parts of China and this has led to some increased requirements for travelers who have been in these regions. We ask that all parents stay informed on any travel policies and inform the school of any travel to, or contact with people from designated high-risk areas. This information can be found in many media outlets.

It has been common for many of our families to travel internationally during the winter break, however that is unlikely to be happening this year. Anyone traveling within China is asked to pay strict attention to health warnings and guidance.
To provide an alternative to travel for families we have worked with our preferred provider of intersession camps, 5 Star, to arrange a program of activities for the winter vacation period. The details of the program will be distributed next week.

At this stage, we believe that we may be able to recommence our much anticipated After School Activities program early in 2021. Assuming that health conditions remain good, and with the permission and support of the authorities we hope to be using our facilities for a range of co-curricular options. We will always be cautious and ensure that safety and hygiene is considered. We know that the After School Activities program is a part of the day highly anticipated by students and we will be trying to resume this when it is safe to do so. Expect more details on this early in 2021.

I have been pleased to see the progress on the fit out of our new secondary campus in Net Valley. We are on track for a move to the new site early in 2021. It is our intention to give the new facility plenty of time to air out so that the quality of the internal air meets our high standards. The plan is to offer tours of the new facility before the official move so that families can get a sneak peek. More information on this will come in January.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards
