Grade 4 and 5 students went on a field trip to Shuiwan Community Station to tune into their current units about culture, identity, values, and civilizations. They explored the culture of Chinese opera and learned more about the meaning of colours and expressions on masks.

Some of our Early Primary teachers and teaching assistant spent some time with Kirsty Liljegren this week to learn and share about best practices on documentation and assessment. Why is it important to document children's learning? What stories do they tell us about their learning experiences? What do we value in the early years learning? This is Kirsty's second year working with us. She is a Melbourne-based consultant working with schools around the world to enhance their early years programmes.

Student safety is our number one priority. All our support staff took part in a workshop to develop their understanding Child Protection and Safe Guarding.

The theme of today’s Early Primary assembly was IDENTITY. Students listened to the story of Yoon as she grabbles with her move to another country. Many of us are not from Shenzhen and the concept of identity is one that is worth exploring. The definition of identity is who you are, the way you think about yourself, the way you are viewed by the world and the characteristics that define you.

Our PK2 classes have been thinking of names that define them. After much consideration and negotiation, this is what they came up with:
