It was great to see so many of you at your child’s conference this week. The home-school partnership is integral in ensuring that our Geckos flourish socially and academically. We appreciate your support of your child but also your willingness to offer constructive feedback to the school so that we can continue to become better at what we do.
As part of our first survey unit "Who We Are", the FBP KG/G1 class is working on the line of inquiry "Naming and expressing emotions".
By reading the book “Aujourd’hui je suis …” (Today I am…) we’ve discovered different emotions and we’ve decided to create our “fish-emotion”. Enjoy some of our Art creations.
We hosted our first ParentEDU about the Primary Years Programme for new families. In this interactive workshop, parents not only learned about how our existing curriculum is supported by the PYP framework, they also shared with us their thoughts about the importance of curiosity, exploration, and teacher guidance. In addition, parents spent time examining different forms of assessments and understanding the intentionality of how everyday lessons are designed to develop (and celebrate) the Approaches to Learning (ATLs) and Learner Profile. A special thanks to Ms. Zoe Zhou (Mandarin PYP Teacher), Ms. Constance Leung (G5 PYP Teacher), and Ms. Alice Cheung (PYP Coordinator) for facilitating this workshop. Here is a link to their presentation.
Our buddy programme allows students from different grades to interact and cultivate relationships. This year, in order to strengthen our cross grade community, we will be asking buddy classes to complete a series of fun challenges. The first challenge was having the students get to know lots of things about their new buddy. Ask your child at home, who they met from another class and what they learnt about their new buddy.
Thank you to our PSA for all the work they put into hosting the book fair. The PSA volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that things ran smoothly and they sure did. Thank you to all the parents that supported their class libraries through the wish list purchases too.
